  • Wow, nice find!
  • sweet find!

who the hell would just have things like this hanging around?
  • I'll be happy to back it up for the winner of the auction. :-D

  • Good Luck with you sale... I see it's already up to 165.00 , what's the reserve on it?
  • OMG ive been keeping my eye out for a Tetris proto for ages, gonna be watching this one. image
  • Ha, that's awesome!
  • Thanks. reserve is $250 because someone already offered me $275 up front. I'd rather put it up for auction though because auctions are more fun.
  • LOL, when I sold a Tetris NES proto to Castlevania4ever, it never even reached $200. Where do you find all these people willing to give you all this money for NES protos?

You know, to be honest it might be the fact that ones like this are sort of 'undiscovered territory' while when people see that you or anyone else who is an established collector is selling one, they figure it has already been played, tested against the final product and dumped somewhere.  Also, when you list a proto, people probably figure 'pfft, he knows what this is worth and if he's trying to sell it, it can't be worth what he's asking...' whereas if a random proto pops up from someone who has no idea about it, all the speculation of how much it's worth makes people's imaginations run rampant and drives the price up.
  • People are naive then, most of my stuff is undumped and unchartered territory. I never documented anything.
  • what do you mean dumped? I dont know much about the game. I wish i could see what it looked like on the screen. Also i have another question,  what does the P mean after NES-P on the label of my tetris game?

(I think) "Dumping" just means that the code in the game has been 'copied', and, in some situations, made publicly available. Sometimes people with proto's "dump" their games just so they can have a copy of it, but others (read: TheRedEye) try to make them all publicly available.

It means more if the proto you own is of a game that was never released, or in you're situation possibly, the game was released, but the code is not 100% the same as the code of the game that was released in its final version.

  • It means a back up like making a ROM of it.
  • P, probably PAL. That's more than likely a PAL NES version of Tetris, meaning it won't work on anything US but a top loader unless it is modified.
  • I think you are right about the pal thing because my friend tried to fit it into his into his U.S. version of NES and it didn't fit right because of the exposed circuit. I said it looks like a top loading cartridge but did not know that they had the PAL version.
  • If it is a PAL version of the game does that affect it value?
  • fitting inside a front loading NES has nothing to do with the chips. You need to remove the gray bar to get it to fit.

Pal affects the value slightly, yes.
  • A gray bar? on the NES or on the cartridge. That would be cool if i could get it to work.
  • on the nes... If you take the system apart you can remove the gray bar so the rom chips fit...

At least that is what I think Dream is referring.. sorry if I got it wrong Dream.
  • No, that's right, but you don't need to take the NES apart, just pull the gray bar from inside where the cartridges sit. Might need some force, but that's all you need to do to remove it.
