Which religion do you belong to?

Bored, so I thought I'd make a topic.

Anyway, I don't belong to any religion. I'm an atheist. Please, no flaming or anything, I just want to see everyone's religion (I doubt anyone here would really flame though; I've yet to see any real trolls here).

  • Uhh oops, I forgot to add more poll options. Can someone add more, or just delete the topic and I'll remake it?
  • Hahaha I didn't know I was a buddist image

Just edit your post, you can add or change aswers and questions

  • I belong to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

    RAmen.

Hahaha nice! I thought i was the only one who knew about that. The flying spaghetti monster is badass lol.
  • I tried editing my post, but it doesn't let me change poll options, just my post itself.
  • Click edit and then the 'edit poll' button on the bottom of your post
  • Ah, I didn't even see that. Thanks. I fixed it all up, now everyone can participate in this topic without being called a buddhist. XD
  • Well, my family calls me a christian, but I don't concider myself one. I basically chose it because i didn't see the none option... I've got my own set of beliefs i live by, don't go to church or anything.

I hereby start the church of Gimmickology image !! All hail ye mighty green one!

  • The closest thing to my religion would be to call myself agnostic, perhaps tibetan buddhist. As a question, please don't take offense, are you a true atheist, or more along the lines of an agnostic?
  • In all seriousness, I'm not atheist, I just don't follow a particular religion. I take beliefs from multiple religions and concider them, I'm open minded to multiple beliefs. So yeah, agnostic...
  • Mass religions are stupid, theyre all cults

    Just have individual beliefs

Yeah, thats pretty much my philosophy.

A true atheist. I used to be an agnostic months ago, but that quickly changed and I became an atheist.
  • months ago? Hope you don't mind me asking, but what happened in the last 2-3 months that changed your thinking from 'there may be a God' to 'there is NO God'?
  • Yeah, that's a pretty hard line to take.

I would be surprised if anybody well educated in higher math or physics doesn't at least wonder about how everything fits so nicely together.
  • Theres two things that should really never be discuss because of the flame wars/ riots that break out because of it (not saying that that is happening here)

    religion and politics

Its not a taboo subject but rather one that should not be discuss and just left alone
  • Yeah, i agree. Its ok to state your religion, but lets not get into a deep discussion with this one...
  • It's possible to have civil conversation involving religion and politics. You don't have to agree with someone, just respectfully disagree. I believe everyone should discuss religion and politics, very important and complicated subject matter image.
  • Well, you have a point. Wars are fought on both counts (REAL ones, not flame wars).

Well, I would contend that on both of the offending subjects, getting outside your comfort zone in a deep discussion is the only way to get to the root of what you really believe.
  • its fine to discuss, as long as it doesn't turn into a heated flame fest. With these kind of topics it usually does as previous topics like this did in the past.
  • I'm christian, but totally respect all religious beliefs, including agnostic and athiest. I find eastern religions fasinating.

To be more specific, I affiliate myself with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints commonly called Mormons

  • I find it hard to believe that in a universe for all we know is 'infinite' (which I can't comprehend) that there isn't Divine inspiration behind its creation as opposed to all existence resulting from a "BANG". That's a helluva lot of mass to just appear out of no where and from nothing?

That's the silliest thing I've ever heard.  Those are two of the most important concepts in society due to how they affect each one of our lives so utterly and completely, and therefore they are the two subjects that should be openly discussed the MOST.
  • I'm nothing. I definitely think there's got to be something out there... but It's not going to affect how I live my daily life.

I definitely do not reject religion. If anything, I think its a very good thing to believe in something, especially if it instills good values. I'm just not religious.

We have a Christmas tree in our house, though.

  • Perhaps the Universe created itself... or perhaps the universe has always existed, it just recycles itself. Mater or energy cannot be created or destroyed, therefore it simply changes. Or the universe was created upon the death of another universe whch imploaded on itself. Or, there is a god which set the initial spark of existance into motion.

And humans on the other hand is another issue. Life could have been a random accident, and we are merely the product of complex chemical reactions which have buit upon themselves and change thus shaping our DNA through random mutations over the course of time. This could go on and on, but these are some of the philisophical questions I have concidered.

There is also the option of inteligent design that a being or force called life into existence and created the various creatures of the earth.

I tend to disbelieve in an inteligent force, I believe that existence is the product of randomness and chaos rather than the logical structure and order we as humans like to put everything in the universe in. Also, there are so many different belifs, beliefs by man which have contradicted each other throughout history. If there is a god,  I believe man can not possibly comprehend its true nature as it is a force greater than ourselves.

  • "I believe that existence is the product of randomness and chaos rather than the logical structure and order we as humans like to put everything in the universe in"

The universe IS UNBELIEVABLY structered and balanced, math is just our way of 'describing' and figuring out the physics that make up our universe. Everything, EVERYTHING on this planet has a purpose!!
  • im not very religious, so i voted none. i believe in a higher power, and his name is erik, but seriously, i believe in something, but i cant stick to one religion. i think religion is cool to learn about to see how different cultures view everything, but i could never choose one and believe everything it has to teach.
  • The human mind can create its own logic, but logic is essentially theory. Purhaps human logic is entirely wrong . The point is humanity can and will never know everything. thats where philosophy and religion comes in. The point is Logic, Religion, Philosophy, Science, are products of the human mind ; they are merely questions, tools in which we use to try to understand out world. The point is nobody knows the answer until the moment we die and face whatever lies after life. I believe that existance is merely a guessing game, nothing is certain, our personal beliefs, perceptions, etc. shape our own views of existance.
