I'd say it's a final retail mockup/proposition. The cart certainly isn't a proto, it's likely the final version (one of a whole batch that's complete and ready to be packaged), and they are just doing the post-production and marketing on it. I wonder where the library is...it must refer to some NOA office. Really cool.

Bill of materials: Process in which the requirements for a top level or higher level object or plan are successively broken down (expanded or translated) into the requirements for the lower level (sub) objects or plans. For example, a bicycle is exploded into the frame, handle, seat, drive chain, and wheels, and each wheel in turn is exploded into the axle, rim, and spokes. Opposite of implosion of bill of materials.
that's actually pretty cool ... the thing special about it is that box is a display box - which means the final game box never left the factory that way ... i would honestly think the best part about the auction though is that bill of materials - now that my friend is sweetness
lol I won't be bidding but I have saved the images, seeing those values is invaluable.
I wonder - if UncleTusk is reading this thread, do you think you could figure out roughly the batch size working backwards from the cost per item for some of those inserts? With all of that info and knowing the type of paper and colors used, you might not be able to do it for any one particular item but you might notice a trend that would give you a general idea of how many of each were made - and therefore the number of games produced in the initial release.
If we get one good solid production number for a middle-of-the-road game, we at least have a ballpark that we can figure out how many were produced of different games relative to the scarcity of this one.

Hmm. I'll see what I can do on Monday, I think this can be done backwards to the point where we could at least get an estimate of QTY. Only problem I could see is I'd have to get paper prices and ink prices from 95. My guess is nintendo had some sort of deal worked out with a print company somewhere as well, since they did so much printed work. So, that might make it tough. Prices are different at different places. I think with a little research a solid rough guess could be made. I'll give this some thought.
Sooo, the list is very cool, thats for sure, but I owned a copy of Claymates as a kid. I know that the "normal" box is a SNES box with a 3D hologram glued to the front. I never ripped the hologram off mine, but I suspect it was just a black box underneath it. I'm still not sure this copy is anything special, besides the parts list that is.

so now we can just buy up claymates, and just rip the label off and since we have the font and pictures of the list, we can just make our own and it will like be printing out money.
whomever won this needs to get their head checked.
