i cant complain about my bb2 box that cost me $5! image but yes, the cart is mint, the manual is mint, and this box could use a nice upgrade!

Where were you when I traded off my extra BB2 box a couple months ago? image

  • i was here and u sent pics of it, but im not too interested in upgrading it at this point. if i upgrade, it will have to be for a perfectly mint one. i want to complete my set and THEN upgrade stuff!

    Awww. We bonded.
  • I'm not convinced this is a reseal. It seems like the sagging of the wrap has appeared quite a few times on Stack-Ups. I dunno... doubt I'd buy it though in that condition.
  • After all the discussion in this thread, I messaged the seller and asked for more information on the background of this particular copy. His english isn't so hot, but he's VERY friendly and I think he's going to send more closeup pics of the seams and corners.

At this point, I kind of feel like I stirred something up without really meaning to, and I'd love to get some more info for the guys that have a deeper knowledge of sealed games.
  • i would love to actually play this game, as i think the concept of ROB was so far ahead of its time, but i think i would get pissed off and quit within 2 minutes of playing and then have to box up my ROB and put it away again! haha

I actually really like Stack-Up and Gyromite... I think they're a lot of fun!  I'm sure I'm in the minority though.
  • I like Gyromite, but I've never played with Rob! I play with my toes on an NES advantage as player-2 image

    I do like R.O.B

Definitely a briliant idea, just too abstract for the retarded 80's kids we were. R.O.B should have been released a bit later.
  • For one it is better to raise the flag on an item as possible suspect than not say anything and someone here gets burned.

But I think its legit as well. I've owned a few of these over the years.

As for someone who said you would never know if it was missing parts.....just use a scale.
  • indeed ... or use some potion to make skeletor come to life ... he will give you the what's what

Haha, my friends and I did the same thing when we were kids (or we would each take a controller).  At the time, we had no idea R.O.B. existed!

Gyromite is really fun when played properly with ROB (IQ of 100+ required image ) but Stack Up stinks. It's slow-paced, tedius and boring, and worst of all, it works on the honour system, meaning you just tell the game how well you did and it gives you the (in)appropriate points.

If all the block-stacking action was happening on-screen, then I agree that the game would be dreadfully boring.  The fun part for me is using the NES to cause the real, live robot to move things around and accomplish tasks (whatever they are, I guess).  Take away the robot, and I would entirely agree that the game would be completely lame.

It's true, though, that Nintendo could have come up with much cleverer (hah, that's actually a word) ways to use R.O.B. in a game.

my IQ is sightly over 160, but my lack of patience wouldnt allow me to successfully play either ROB game! haha

  • ^ I could see 120 for you but no way in hell are you 160. If you're 160, I'm the Son of God image
  • I dunno dude...geniuses tend to be eccentrics...and nobody here is more eccentric than Seth image See, my IQ is slightly under 140, and I'm weird, but not as weird as Seth. Now, we get someone like...um...well, we're all a bit weird here image
  • im really not shittin you guys here... i began college at age 15. i took every course my high school had to offer by the time i finished sophomore year. junior and senior year of high school, i either attended college classes through distant learning inside my high school or i actually traveled to one of the local colleges (wherever my class was located) if they didnt have the distant learning option.

albeit, i do not associate IQ with book smarts at all, because my class valedictorian got like a 950 on her SATs!!! figure that one out!!! anyway, IQ, SAT, GMAT, and any other standardized knowledge test is just a bunch of bullshit anyway, but yes, my IQ was over 160 when i was tested for gifted in grade school / high school. i havent been tested since, but there is no reason for it to go down!

and with that said, nice to meet you, Son of God! i didnt really believe in God until now, cuz if he has a son, he HAS to be real!

Thanks! I never even though of that!
  • Hm, S.R.H. does the H. stand for Howser? image
  • haha, it could if you want it to!
  • I've never taken an IQ test, would be interesting to see what it is.

If you take 5 IQ tests you will get 5 different scores.Your score will vary depending on what test you take. I'm not saying this 160 guy isn't 160 ( I have no idea who he is) but there are many people out there who shout out these IQ numbers and it means nothing. Intelligence is a measure of your ability to solve new problems and this is hard to measure. Most IQ tests are bunk because of this.  What these tests often measure is based on your knowledge and past experience and not your intelligence. A true Intelligence test (if possible) would ignore your knowledge and introduce problems you never encountered before and measure your ability to solve them.

The hardest test I ever took was in the Army for Military Intelligence called the DLAB. They used a made up language to test your ability to learn new languages. It was used to measure language learning ability. Before heading off to Defense Language Institute to study Russian I had to take this test. They took away English and all English grammer they then introduced a new language with a new alphabet and a new grammer. Some of it was written but the hard part was played on a tape recorder. The question and answers (A thru D) were all in this language. You sat in a room with others (just like the SAT) with your #2 pencil and paper and the tape just kept on going ready or not. The tape part was first and I wasn't warned. The shock of taking a test that wasn't in English didn't wear off till a few questions had passed.

That is the closest I've ever personally encountered to a true intelligence test. Unless it was the second time you took that test you could be pretty sure you had the same knowledge going in as everyone else. Still knowing the parts of speach (a noun, verb ,adverb etc ) and how they fuction I imagine would help your score and those who knew 2 or more languages generally scored higher. So even this test was not a true measure of intelligence but it was the closest I've ever encountered.

  • i agree with buyatari... all of the online IQ tests are garbage. if you truly want to know your IQ, you have to have it administered by a professional. the only question i remember from when i first took my test back in grade school was a question where you had 4 or 5 little picture cards, the facilitator mixed them up, gave them to you, and told you to put them in the correct order. that was just one of the type of questions that they did back then, but with that type, it forces you to quickly look over the entire picture and figure out what is changing, how it is changing, and why it is changing... then put it in the correct chronological order. i remember one of the sets of cards was about the sun rising and setting, but thats it.

i completely forget what the test was like when i took it in high school.

i havent really encountered a standardized test that i thought was hard yet. i thought i bombed the GMAT, but i got a 700 on it (something like the 96th percentile or something)
  • I'm thinking now might be the time to try to add this one to the collection.

So, I was going to ask a couple ?'s

    1. How much of a difference in price of sealed vs. complete on this game. If i recall not the big of a diff. right?

    2. Has this game been listed in wiz's list? If not I'll probably be opening it up if the answer to #1 isn't that bad.

    3. Can anyone tell if the back of the box is damaged (to the left) I can't tell if thats an indention line, or just a wave in the seal. Bigger pic. below.
    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa207/maximusfrisbee/stack-up_back.jpg

  • I can answer #2 - it has NOT been listed yet image
  • Cool wiz, thanks.

I'm really worried about the possible damage on the back. It almost looks like a crease about

half way up where i pointed out before.

I can figure out the price diff. after (if) i get it. But, some input on wiether or not that looks like damaged would
be uber appreciated before i buy it (only 10 or so hours left image)
  • Looks like a wave in the seal.
  • frisbee takes it down! u gunna add it to wiz's list? image
  • I was just about to ask what i won it for... I cant open ebay at work for some reason today.
