Took it easy for market after that last lot and just bought a couple things from my regular guy. Fucked up and bought rise of the robots for some reason. I think he had it priced at non-refusal levels.
Trying to focus on quality and value from now on. I have PLENTY of bulk on my collection. Just got these two today. Isolated Warrior came with a nice NTVIC poster I'm gonna hang up. And you all know Super Bomberman is a good game. Cat insisted on being in the photo again.
(random guy has small box of about 60 game boy-GBC carts, almost all doubles of the same shitty nickelodeon games)
ME: "How much for the games man?"
DICK RESELLER: "Well I'd like $10 a piece, depending on what it is. For Something like mario here (SML2) I'd want $25"
ME: "That's awfully high for that game, considering it sells for $8-9 online"
DICK RESELLER: "No you need to go look(I interrupt him)"
ME: "No I have looked, I own that game, and I know it's worth $8. I know my shit, thanks anyway." *I leave*
Fuck these people.
People are free to sell games at any price they like, I don't think it would be right to tell him he's wrong for it. You may have been a little harsh on him.
Eh maybe you're right. But It's the same tired old line I hear from others who do the same thing. Having so many different people tell me the same story when trying to pull the same gag makes me believe that it's just a thing they do. That they know the general fair value of the things they have and they knowingly try to get double that. Do they have the right to charge double? sure. But I think it's lousy and I don't have to act like I'm ok with it.
Had he not told you you were wrong and you need to go check online again I'd agree, it was harsh. But with him calling you stupid or a liar with that line basically you weren't out of order on that at all. Predators like that need to be called on it. Great find on those two games as they're nice ones to have.
They have a right to ask what they want, but they don't have a right to call you dumb for questioning the price.
I think I'm done for the year. I've spent plenty, had some amazing finds. I'd really like to end it on a high note with one of the most amazing game lots I've ever snagged. It's about time I learned to play JRPGs!
That's a sick SNES lot. Also with resellers who charge exorbitant prices, I just bite my tongue and flip through their stuff anyway. Sometimes you'll find an obscure rarity that they were clueless on priced the same as everything else.

Oh yeah most definitely I find mispriced stuff all the time because most resellers really don't know anything aside from like the Top 10 rarest games and the mainstream stuff. That's how I found my Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis for the PS2
Coming back from a break. Got these for $10. Road Runner is the last NES game from my childhood. Gauntlet IV is cool, it's basically NES Gauntlet with better graphics and sound.
Been on a long break from collecting games. But I started working at a thrift store recently and things come by that I can't really resist. I feel like getting back into garage sale and flea market trawling as well, I miss it.
I've gotten a few things here and there from work since I started a few months ago. A few $20-$30 games, DK64, Mario Kart 64, an N64 carrying case. But this the first big time score, and probably even better than the time I got all those squaresoft SNES games for pocket change. Including two games I've always wanted but realistically would never buy at full retail price (Mega Man X3 & Earthbound).
wait, do you work at goodwill? i heard you're suppose to wait til it sits out to the public for 24 hours then your allowed to purchase... i guess not now..

SNES:
Final Fantasy III
Mega Man X3
Super Mario RPG
Breath of Fire II
Earthbound
NES:
Barker Bill's Trick Shooting
Dragon Warrior III
Little Nemo Dream Master
What did you pay for Earthbound and MMX3?
Also I'm curious as to how that process works with you buying from where you work. Is there a waiting period or do you just put it away till you can pay for it? Don't mistake my questions as attacking, just pure curiousity.
my brother worked at goodwill and was their pricer, as he was 50 years younger then everyone else who worked there. as the pricer, he wasn't allowed to shop there, period. that's why i'd get random texts that read something like "michael jackson bad vinyl $1" throughout the day.
I'd rather not say exactly which store I work at because I don't want to get myself or my employer in any trouble. But we aren't allowed to buy anything before it goes on the floor. The rule where I work is anything you are interested in has to be priced by someone besides yourself and on the floor for 24 hours before you purchase it. So if a game comes in that I want, I have to get someone else to price it for me, and then wait until the following day to buy it, hoping to god some customer didn't nab it before me. So its not like employees can just nab things as they come in and totally shut you out of the process. I'm pretty sure every thrift store besides small mom&pop and church stores have a rule like this.
When it comes to games as valuable as Earthbound and MMX3, I'm awfully tempted to skirt the rules. But I don't because my job is way more important than a few video games, even ones like these. Priorities, yo.
The employees know when and what will be for sale. But you can shop and buy things at any time, and don't have to worry about breaking any rules. You need to make short visits as often as possible if you want to find the nicest things. There's no magic time of day, we can't hide stuff (like i've seen claimed on the forum, if you find games hidden under a couch cushion that was a customer. No employee would be that stupid.)
Nintendo 64 carry bag I got from work recently. It's great for the theoretical gamer with friends!
These things I got for free since someone at my apartment complex threw them away. If you saw an Atari 2600 in a dumpster you'd climb in and rescue it too, right?. I'm guessing the 2600 works, Failstation 2 probably doesn't, and I can always use another genesis controller. I'll let them sit in the closet until I get the cords needed to test them.

I see, I'm pretty shocked no one purchased the x3 and earthbound.. but anyway, nice pickup.

Road Rash 64 is just as fun as it was 14 years ago.
