has anyone tryed making repros of final fantasy 2 out of the famicom carts
i wanted to make a repro of final fantasy 2 3 and mother on the original famicom boards. I like to do this cause i then actualy own the game and keep the original roms. It is my way of not pirating while still making repros. My question is if you use the famicom carts is it the same prosses as using a us donor cart or is their somthing im missing. the other reason for this is cause then i dont destoy another game in the proses and also it makes it so i dont have to make labels.

Have you ever seen the Generation NEX that plays Famicom and NES games? I have one and it's really good.

I have. Its cool but i like to creat things. Its a hobie. Plus I like having the original hardware. I cant say anything bad about this clone because i have never used it but i have had problems with them in the past. I bought a retro duo portable v2 and it plays alot of games but sometimes it will randomely delete my game saves or it will just not load some games.

I figured you would want to make your own but I thought I would mention it. It is a good clone; the only problems I've seen is that it has the faint vertical lines like the NES top loader and it won't work with Castlevania 3. But still, I hope you get this figured out. I even have an extra FF2 Famicom cart I can send you.

Yea once I get it all wired up and sorted out I can give you my adress. I would only charge you 2 bucks for each eprom needed and then I can get that set up for you.. I should be getting my suplys within 2-3 weeks at the latest.

Technically they are still repros even if you use the original carts, they're just using an authentic label is all.
I made a Final Fantasy 3 english cart from a Famicom cart, its eprom is wired the same as a US copy. Here's a picture:
Going by my experience with Famicom carts, Final Fantasy 2 should be the same deal as a US version.
Oh yeah, how do you plan on opening Famicom carts? They are extremely hard to open. Most methods result in breaking those super stiff tabs. Watch this video and buy the tool used in it, it makes this so much easier.
