Help with Willem programmer

I have a willem programmer and I was going to use the AM29F032 chips with the TSOP40B boards. I accidently purchased the wrong chips (I purchased MBM29F033C-70PTN.) I have ordered the correct chips but was wondering if these chips could be programmed using a Willem. The pin outs look the same for both set up chips. I have tried a few different "devices" on the Willem software but I always seem to get this error message "0x000005 chip = 0xFF buffer 0x97" Sometimes the numbers are different like it might say "0x000001 chip = 0xFF buffer 0x85" or something along those lines. Any help with this would be appericated.

  • It's basically the read/write of the chip against the programmer.

FUJITSU MBM29F033C-90PTN is the same as a 70-PTN, just different speeds (If no1 corrects me). Both will work, the lower the better obviously. Did you solder them to the tsop adapoter board?

I only use TSOP adapter III boards from buyicnow.com

    Just food for though.
  • I am trying to program the flash chips before soldering them onto the TSOP adapter III boards.
  • Did you erase them first?
  • I was able to erase them, when I click erase on the Willem software it says "erase completed by check DQ7" which from my understanding is what it is suppose to say.
  • I have trouble with the AM29F032 and Willem 5.0

how many seconds should the deleting take?

    I always get timeout errors.

    Try erase2.exe found here: http://www.mcumall.com/forum/pop_printer_friendly.asp?TOPIC_ID=4356
  • Thx,

this worked, but something is strange, the AM29F032 goes from /busy to ready

    after about 40 seconds.

With Willem software, it´s /busy for about a second, than in somewhat undefined state.

the datasheet mentioned minimum sector erase time is 1s, so with 64 sectors minimum

    erase time should be 64s.

64 seconds are also given in the datasheet for minimum full erase time.
  • @niob123 or anyone else, I'm about to attempt the same using TSOP40 with a Willem GQ-4X. What I'm not sure of is if I go with the TSOP chips that are already mounted on the DIP36 boards, do I still need to use a Willem Adapter ?

    It looks like I need a ADP-082

    and

ADP-077. (If I want to write TSOP40 directly)

    Thoughts ?
