Well here is his site with some pictures and descriptions if you are interested. http://www.sc3000-multicart.com/sc3000-cart-case.htm The videos go into a lot of details about optimizing the molds to get a better casting.
Thanks. That is much easier for me to view. For sure a lot of familiar stuff here and a very similar project.
... I wonder if it would be possible to wire an LED to the game PCB, to have it light up when the game was in use? Would be cool in the clear cast cart to kind of illuminate the whole thing.
I know near nothing about electronics, but I notice the NES pcb's each have at least one resistor on them. Maybe I could find LED component with similar resistence and swap it in?
Wow cool man! You sure do have a lot of information and ideas up my alley.
After I posted my last message I discovered the Irem Famicom games that have an LED in the face of the cart, so that had become my reference...
In my application I figured it would just be one or maybe two lights, basically as power indicators (since 101 console has none) and also as I said before it would help showcase the design of my clear cast carts. It's a bit different than normal design clear carts because there is no internal case structure visible. Also different though that it's hard to even tell its clear in the bulk of the cart case unless you hold it up to a light. ... I'm not sure how much light or how many LEDs would be necessary to make the whole thing glow. ... Whatever the set-up, I definitely envisioned it all lighting up instantly and staying lit, rather than any blinking.
... Really cool ideas you had though for different LEDs that would actually be specific indicators of in-game events. Did anything ever come of that? I suppose you could go completely nuts with that idea if you had an unlimited amount of time and resources, (ever read about the LED display for the Adventure Vision console?!?!)
Also I saw in your thread that you had intended to do a (video) tutorial. Did that ever happen???
I've been too busy working and having kids lol. The LED stuff is pretty easy. The only reason my LEDs change color is because they were designed to, you could replace them with regular LEDs no problem.
