Majora's Mask Grey NFR

I'm insanely happy right now. That's it. Story time.

I hopped on eBay last Friday morning. I had always heard about people getting steals on eBay by getting a Buy it Now right when it was posted for pretty cheap. I had been checking every now and again with no real luck, but I like looking at video games on a general basis, so not a huge waste of time for me anyways.

As I get on, the very first item I see is Majora's Mask Grey NFR. I'm primarily an n64 collector (and super nintendo games on the side) and so I definitely knew the value of something like this. Eyes practically bugged out of my head when I saw the buy it now price of $200.00. I did some quick checking (i'm talking no more than a minute) to make sure it didn't look like a fake and then went for it. I was hoping that no one else saw it and would try to undercut me with the seller. Paid instantly, and sent a message that if he would ship priority to get it to me ASAP I would appreciate it and send him some additional cash via paypal to cover it.

A few hours later, he lets me know that it's shipped and he sent it priority. Follows that up by saying that he got 3 offers after it closed and before he shipped, with one of them being 3x the amount I paid ($600) but he believes in honoring the initial purchase. What a guy. As we message back and forth and I thank him profusely, turns out he owns a small video game store with his real love being restoring old arcade and pinball machines. Quality dude.

Anyways, cartridge is 10/10. I literally don't own an n64 cartridge (unsealed) that's in as good shape as this one. The pins are literally perfect as well. Tested it and it worked flawlessly. I don't currently plan on selling it, as it is now the ultimate piece in my collection. I am really excited to play it through and observe some of the changes i've read about. I may sell it within the next year as I try to finance my post-graduation trip to Asia, but i'm going to love it to death first.

Cheers!!!

  • nice, you got a great seller who was willing to honor the BIN price even in the face of a 300% undercut offer (before he shipped). Not to many of those now.
  • find out who back doored u, they should be known

    THIS X 1000000
  • and fast, im looking for this too and if i got it and lost it to one of the ppl making offers ide be pissed since its one of 3 im still missing.
  • Grats on the grab, definitely the coolest NFR of the set!
  • Congrats, that cart looks amazing. An honourable ebay seller, who would have known!
  • Nice! I don't even collect for the 64 and I want that cart
  • That thing is absolutely pristine. Congrats dude.
  • Glad to hear he honoured it.

I agree. Thats awesome the seller didnt let some late bastard take what they missed. Im not an N64 person at all but that game looks in great condition. I would even own it if I found it.
  • Hope I find that one someday!
  • Yeah OP, tell the seller you'll gift him $5 or something if he reveals the usernames of the backdoorers. I'll put up $5 just to out these people myself. I'm so f'in tired of some of the selfish collectors who lurk on eBay backdooring deals.
  • Dude...that's awesome! Congrats man. Heck of a deal. Heck of a stand up seller too!
  • I was searching completed items the other day and saw this. Very nice.
  • I'm all for finding out who those rats were, but also it would be nice to know the seller too. That dude is pure class and honor. It reminds me of the turds who tried for days to backdoor the Sharp NES TV I got a year and a half ago out west. The guy was former military and believed in the code of honor he swore to as he said and kept the deal as it was a verbal contract to honor. Same situation pretty much here too.

I swear if anyone ever on stuff I have that's valued tries some backdoor crap on stuff I sell I'll be pasting their usernames and anything else I can get publicly here as I think anyone should. Names should be taken for scum like that and made public.

Fantastic timing and find on that. I can even relate on that in a piddly way as I got a Lufia 2 with a beat up manual and map for $25 shipped that way over a year ago now as I nailed it within moments of showing up on the site and the former owner even said he was stunned it was so fast and congratulated me on it too which was cool. A piece of advice. A trip to asia you can that far out find better ways to bankroll. Trust me, don't sell it, you'll regret it. You can sell off some other games in the $100ish range and easily recover those later, but an item like this as long as the market doesn't fall out won't lose but gain value making it even worse to get another. If you're that fired up as it appears, keep it.

^ Been on the opposite side of this, and I support. Def find out who is he
  • Just asked him. I think he should be willing to let me know, we have had civil and fun conversation up to this point. I'll post it if I get the names.

I'm looking to reciprocate in some way by trying to help him get something he is looking for but he seems to be mostly a video game seller and an arcade collector which is far out of my league.

Anyways, thanks for all the comments and feedback. The only reason I would sell it would be if I needed the money and because I know that it would go to someone else that would appreciate it on NA.
  • ...fuck.

Super, super, super jealous. Like, I wanna kind of kill you.

And yeah, good on that guy. What a dude. It'd be nice to find out who the backdoor people are as well.
  • Congrats like others I am also looking for this cart
  • Congrats on the Grey MM NFR find! That label on it is superb. I sold my copy a few months ago to a collector in Norway, and it had a two very small nicks in the label, and still got $600 for it. That one should fetch a very decent price if you ever decide to sell. I belive someone made a topic in the past month or two looking for one for $750 I think it was. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it
  • I saw that in the completed listings - nice score! I was feeling a bit annoyed at first because I thought the price had reflected that it had massively gone down in value (I had paid about x4 that for mine about 1.5 years ago), but good to hear it really was a steal!
  • That is one hell of a deal. Seen the sold listing the other night and thought to myself "2 days you step away and this lands...jerkoff" Have been waiting to catch something decent off the Bay. Nice score! Would like to hear who the culprits were if he isn't fluffing your feathers. Have a good feeling I may know who one is already.

  • fuck

a few months ago I saw one of those for 20 dollars at a disc replay...

and I didn't get it because I wanted the gold version...
  • Wow, another one! Epic steal. And what a great seller.
  • ok im still curious, did you find out who backdoored you??
  • Wow, now that's a deal! I envy you sir. Happy to see the seller was a heck of a guy and honored the first payment
  • I know a guy local to me that found one of these about a month ago. They must be out there more then we think.
  • thats awesome

i love how the "not for resale" on games has basically turned into "this is now worth more money for resale"
  • Nice grab bro. Lady I bought mine from had it priced at $1 in her previous garage sale but didn't sell! She was more than happy to sell it for $150 to me when I saw it pop up on ebay at $12 starting bid .
