  • So I have to ask, and free bump I guess...Is this cable actually worth $160?
  • No idea why its worth so much. Amazon and ebay have it high like that. Although it would probably be alot cheaper to mod a gamecube. I imagine if your one of those ultra rich guys it would be ok lol

The cable is actually pretty rare. They were only sold online through Nintendo in the US and I'm assumming went off sale once they stopped producing the DOL-001 model GameCubes. I personally find it cheaper to pick up an older model Wii and play 480p games that way, but I have been looking for one of these for my living room Cube if I can get it under $100. Which I'm not holding my breath for. Mike

First semester last year was the first time I saw these. I was goofing off in school and clicked on a rare video game thing you might actually own, and this was the last one, worth about 100 dollars.  It's been going up slowly ever since, pretty much every gamecube thing has...except Mario Mix, and I'm not sure why...I bought a ton of copies expecting it to go up and it's back down to 11...lol...but it's starting to get to that point where people my age sant to relive their childhood and go after stuff like this. We started a pokemon club at my school for that reason.  So yeah, it's definately worth 160 right now, and well....if you really want one...you should look at picking up the cheapest one you can find now, in my opinion...at least...thats what I'm doing.

  • Yeah the cable is pretty much worth that price. I actually just sold it on eBay for 160 a few hours ago. I really can't believe a damn cable would sell for that much lol.

  • I never had one, cause I never had an HDTV growing up, but yeah, when I saw that, I was amazed. and I'm even more amazed that it's going up. Especially since it's not a game, you don't NEED it. I've never played with one, but I would imagine that the picture probably isn't that much better than the regular cables. I mean, I use regular cables still, and I think my picture seems fine. I actually bought my nice 72 inch lcd at a garage sale for less than the price of those cables
  • I didn't see much of a difference on my 1080p HDTV.

I actually have a question if someone can answer this. When I bought the cable it came with a system that had the port for it. Do ALL GC systems have that part or were they just earlier systems?
  • Not all have that port, couldn

Not all GC's have the port for it , Digital out was only released on some consoles , specifically ...

DOL-001 Had Digital out , I have not seen any DOL-101 with it yet. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • the earlier models had it but they abandoned it at one of the price drops

    Congrats on selling the cord

Thanks! Not sure if I told you but I bought a few rare games the day after for the GC from the same guy.

Zelda Twilight Princess, Zelda Collectors Edition Promotional Disc, and Mario Kart DD Special Edition WITH a 70" IKEA Chicago poster for $15 total! Pretty awesome weekend for yard sales.

Does anyone know if the earlier systems are more valuable?
  • I didn't know these had gotten so expensive - if anyone still wants to pay $150, I've got one for sale, PM me.

You could try eBay. My cord sold in less than 24 hours.
  • I never find good gamecube deals...I've gotten decent Playstation, NES, even virtual boy...but never gamecube...argh

Thanks for the advice, you may be right.  I hate to give up a solid 20% to fees and shipping, rather sell it here for less.. Thanks for letting me hijack the thread, btw!

  • You could always try an auction? And set the reserve at 140 or something? Just a thought, I always do that and I tend to get more for my items than I would doing a BIN if that is what you thought about doing
  • added pics and new info!
  • wait....they STILL make nintendogs on the 3ds?!?!
