Monster Party Prototype Hack

This seems to be as close as we will ever get to the original version of Monster Party (Seeing as how the Japanese buyer of the prototype has clearly stated he will never share it, that asshole.) You can get the file here now (just re-uploaded, was gone for a while):
*Mod Edit* Please do not post ROMs on NA.
Find it on RomHacking.net within the next week!

Buying something to purposfully flaunt to others is the biggest douche attack you can do. Proto collectors are pretty scummy and thrive on owning things others can onyl dream of. If I paid someone to kick you in the not so nice place, is it still the same situation? my money so...

Ugh, sorry dude, you're probably going to have to pull the link since it's a rom. If you use a patching utility you could just post the IPS patch or a link to that. However to avoid any problems with mods you might want to edit your post or something.
Amazing find though, did you do this hack or are you just reposting?
Is there a way to extract the ips from the ROM? I no longer have the single ips file and only the patched rom
It was made by a Japanese hacker, I stumbled upon it actually.

Isn't it the patch in the first link in the video description?

Probably because you don't understand the difference between PD and released ROMS.

Seriously. Didn't the Nolans just release a prototype game not to long ago?
I'm getting tired of people calling proto collectors evil scumbags. =\

one that comes to mind right away is the owner of the socks the cat proto.
Tom is the furthest thing from a scumbag in the community. He has also donated a ton of cash to the site, so his motivation in the hobby isn't a selfish one.

If you belive that one owner is hoarding, fine. Doesn't make all proto guys scummy.
Me personally, I don't have the right to say what people can and cannot do with their property. If they want to release it, cool. If they don't, and if they want just a mansion in trade, so be it. That's just how I see it, anyways.

Well with all this glowing respect and admiration from the community I can't see why they haven't dumped their $5,000 cartridge for free for reproduction making and profitting off of their investment sooner!
EDIT : Since this thread has gone way off track I'm going to open a new thread with just the IPS patch for the monster party proto hack and a guide on how to make an IPS patch so people have a guide if they want to release hacks without them being removed later. I don't know if an IPS patch is any more acceptable by mods but I think it should be, I don't know, we'll see.

As long as the actual commercial rom isn't relased, it should be fine. A guide on how to make a IPS would help out most peeps out there. I'm down for it.
Then theres blatant azzholes who purchase a proto (Japanese Monster Party owner), flaunt it, never contribute to anything important (the owner of Socks, as mentioned is a good guy who donates to this site) .....when people ask to send donations for a dump the response is "You will never see this game, its mine hahahaha" Well those proto collectors can F right off and burn in hell.
And one last word- people who expect owners of prototypes to dump them for free are borderline retarded. Those who dump for free are fantastic people and i love you all. BUT the people who do not collect prototypes and expect a prototype game someone paid for to be dumped for free, kick rocks man youre a fool. Donations is where its at to help these collectors re-coup some of their investment. Those who are never willing to dump a proto (or at least share the dump, Im sure most of these rarities are preserved beyond the physical cart), as long as they have spent their own cash on it, well that means its THEIRS, not yours or the gaming communities. They can do whatever they want with it, so get over it!
Thats like saying someone who has bought a Van Gogh painting MUST hang it in a museum.
NOW LETS GET BACK ON TRACK- How can I extract an ips from the patched rom? or is that impossible?

You realize a CIB release of the game is being planned, right? You also understand DreamTR was selling the only know proto for $5,000, which is what I'm assuming Minusworlds paid for it. Think about it like this - if you spent $5,000 on a prototype, a one of a kind prototype, do you honestly believe that you would release it for free? Keep in mind, he's going to be working with some of the best people in the community to make it happen. I don't understand why people feel the need to jump on Tom like this. It's completely uncalled for.

Nope, not impossible. Download LunarIPS and run the program. It has 2 functions, creating and installing IPS patches. You need an original MP rom and the hacked proto. It'll ask you to pick out the modded and original files and it'll compare them and create a blue print of the differences and export it to a file for you. I'm about to publish a thread on it right now.
EDIT : http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=22&threadid=109226
Longest how to thread on a program with only 2 functions EVER.
Let's go ahead and read that and post the IPS provided it's not against the rules. Can a mod chime in and let me know if this is all ok or not? I'm assuming it's fine as no one has said anything to me about it yet and the thread has several hundred views so I'm guessing it's not against the rules? Can someone please verify that for me, not trying to encourage someone to do something that'll just end up with another link being pulled.

pretty strange game. How many levels are available off the file download?
The Game is 100% complete and edited to (as far as we know) the exact specifications for the original Prototype won from YJA (theres an even earlier version as well with different backgrounds, characters, etc. seen on Chris Covell's page, this has yet to be found). The only original aspect missing from this game is the 'Planet of the Apes" boss at the end of level 1, it is still ol' pumpkinhead ghost. Maybe one of our skilled members can take this file and make that one final change so this will be the definitive MP prototype version rom?!
I know a few people who have actually explored the rom and apparently theres a TON of character sprites still there that were never used or cut from the final version.
If Monster Party was to be released as planned, Im sure it would have been a copyright and licensing nightmare.

I understand it just fine thank you
Someday.... Someone will uncover a true sequel or the jpn prototype owner will come around and release the Japanese uncut version of this game.
Until that time....

Apparently not. Link to the examples you talk about and we'll explain why it happened. I've never seen a thread handled wrong by Mods.
