Best Kijiji find yet!

My brother's job gives him a lot of free time to sit and surf the internet on his phone so he regularily keeps an eye on Kijiji for good deals.

Well, last night he sent me a link to an SNES game lot and in the bottom corner of the photo, I spotted a particular game of interest...

So, he went out this afternoon and picked us up a CIB copy of Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for ...............

$60.

Are you sure? Because the boxed Ninja Gaiden Trilogy which was listed at $60 on Kijiji is currently at my house......after I picked it up last night.

  • Must either be a different ad or he had two of them because my Ninja Gaiden Trilogy doesn't have any marker on it whatsoever. The cart is mint.

Yours? I thought your friend went to get it.

So what you're telling me is 2 different people listed:

    - the exact same game

    - in the exact same completeness

    - in the same provincial vicinity

    - on the exact same day

    - on the exact same website

    - for the exact same way too low price?
  • Jesus, dude. What's your problem?

First of all, I said my BROTHER went to get it. He lives in Alberta, I live in BC. He picked it up for me, so therefore it is "my" copy. He then sent me photos of the game he picked up. Here is a picture of the cart in question for your inspection, sir.

  • Deemar needs to eat a Snickers.
  • Definitely.

Believe me or don't, what do I care? At the end of the day, I still own a CIB copy of Ninja Gaiden Trilogy.

Personally, I think that's pretty cool, but whatever. I have nothing to prove. I just thought it would be fun to post about my find but I'll think twice about it next time.
  • No, it's fine, I just thought it was strange. So your brother lives in Alberta, so they were both actually in the same place too, that's even weirder. Was it in Calgary? You can't deny the similarities and how strange it is. Nice find, maybe we can be Ninja Gaiden Trilogy find brothers.
  • Of course, I think it's totally bizarre and I would have been happy to laugh about it with you. But you were just being so weird about it with the interrogation. But hey, I'm an easy-going guy, so water under the bridge.

Yes, it was in Calgary as well.

In fact, here was the original ad: http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-video-games-consoles-older-generation-Super-Nintendo-Games-Collection-for-sale-some-rare-games-W0QQAdIdZ511838273

Ninja Gaiden Trilogy was on the bottom left. When my brother picked it up, the guy said that he knew it was worth more but just needed to sell his games.

We also picked up Might and Magic from him as well, but I don't remember where it was located in the photos. We didn't need any of the other games.

This was either an amazing coincidence or one of us got scammed. My brother has already opened our cart and verified it's legit, so maybe you want to do the same if it's from the same guy.

Now you are messing with me. That's the same guy I met with last night. I bought his Trilogy from him.

Either you're messing with me or he's messing with both of us.

So you got it from him for $60 and I got mine from him for $150. Was it your brother that told him what it was worth?
  • I don't know what to tell you, man.

You'd better open your cart and check it out.

My manual isn't in the best shape and the box had a pinhole in it, so maybe he sold you the better copy for the higher price?

My cart is mint save for the little silver rental sticker on the bottom right, but that will come off in two seconds with a little Goo Gone.

No, my brother didn't say anything about it. He emailed him asking what the guy wanted for the game and the seller told him "$60". So of course my bro went to get it right away for that price.

Once he got there, though, the seller seemed to have knowledge it was worth more but still sold it to us for the $60.
  • I don't believe it yet. He didn't buy the boxed Secret Of Mana? Can you post a complete picture of it?

i just posted a find also and got flammed for it. i guess its not the day to share - either that or whole lot of ppl are jell

    good find........!

This is the last of the photos he sent to me of the copy he picked up. You'll also notice Might and Magic in the background if you further doubt what I've been saying.

And why didn't we pick up Secret of Mana? Well, same reason we didn't pick up any of ther other games there. We already own them. We aren't resellers, buying things to sell to others with overinflated prices. We're just collectors.

Additionally, we don't have deep pockets. If we only have a hundred bucks to spend at this time, then we're going to spend it on games we want and/or need.

I'm getting really tired of having to prove this to you and quite frankly I don't know why I'm still doing it. All I told you to do was check your cart because, nice guy that I am, I hope you didn't get scammed and yours is authentic. My cart has been verified to be the real deal, so I genuinely hope yours is too.

If so, congrats on the pick-up! I'm sorry I got mine for cheaper? I don't know what else you want me to say.

  • Deemar, you're not you when you're hungry.

    And... Now your front hurts.

He sold it before I got there but after this guy was there. I would have bought it, I've never played it before.

I texted the seller a couple of times today and asked him if he had any other copies of this game for sale, he said no and that I got his only copy. I don't know what's going on here but it's freaking me out.
  • A piece of advice. Don't bash the op for being happy to buy a game. Go talk to the seller if you are pissed. Keep it civil and be happy for somebody else.

Man, this thread sure turned into a disaster fast.

Why does it matter so much to you, anyway? Aren't you happy that you got the game as well?

I just don't understand why this has turned into such a big deal.

Don't take it personal man. You scored and that's all that counts. Keep on posting your finds.

People have taken advantage of me a lot so I was very concerned with finding out whom was lying figuring out what happened. I showed my finds thread to my girlfriend, then this whole thread, then my text messages with the seller and it took her all of 6 seconds to tell me I was being too agressive and that I should apologize.

I kind of see it too, I was just looking for the most efficient, fastest way of getting the information I needed and it came across too harsh I guess. I just wanted information so I thought I would ask, nothing more than that. DIdn't mean anything by it.

  • I finally found a driver that I was able to use to get it open. What does this mean? How did they make the game 2 years before the SNES came out?

  • Maybe it's the year they copyrighted the technology? I'm not 100% sure, but I bet someone around here knows. However, rest assured, I'm happy to inform you that yours is authentic. Here is another copy from a different thread that I used to compare mine to:

    http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=105541&StartRow=26

And good news! I was actually just coming here to post some pictures. I got a huge box of stuff from my brother yesterday and my Ninja Gaiden Trilogy was in there. Here's a picture for the proof you requested:

    image

I still have no idea why he had two copies and claimed he only had one. Bizarre, but whatever. We both scored!
  • Thanks. Is it possible they're home made boxes or labels?
  • I doubt it. Mine was clearly purchased from a video store.

    - Cart had those silver rental stickers on it that you can see in the first cart picture I posted on page 1. I managed to remove them all with Goo Gone, thankfully.

    - Back of my box has a little white sticker on it with what I think is an inventory number.

Your box looks authentic to me, too.

I personally think the guy just had a couple copies of it and didn't want to tell you that he had just sold one for cheaper. Like why would you want to invite that confrontation? Maybe he sold one to us and then found out how much it's worth so he sold the other copy? Who knows. Either way, it sucks that someone told him how much it was worth before you got to it. But you still scored on the price, regardless. This is just one incredibly bizarre tale!
  • To make a profit, game companies generally make more than one.

  • The guy probably got so stressed out dealing with Deemar that he decided to cut a deal to whoever bought his other copy.
  • Lol yeah dude, it's similar, but both are legit and both are basically new. Nothing to argue about, holy crap.
