For all the SNES repro guys is it possible to do a reprodution of a SNES WWF Game

I will be the first to admit I know nothing about reproduction / homebrew carts as I don't own any own and I really haven't followed it much on NA.  My curiousity as of late has me wondering is it possible to do a reprodruction of a SNES WWF Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania or  Raw and add more charater to the game? My 5 year old son and I have been playing all of these games like crazy as of late. Most of the games only have 8 to 10 characters to choose from. Would like to know if this is even possible to add more characters?

There are so many more wrestlers that should have been on these games such as Ravishing Rick Rude, Koko B Ware, Brooklyn Brawler, Haku, Warlord, Barbarian, Texas Tornado, Irin R Schiester, Roddy Piper, Stg. Slaughter etc..... the list goes on.

  • Unless there is already a copy with the characters then no. My suggestion would be to get a Fire Pro Wrestling Translation (http://www.romhacking.net/translations/1232/ or http://www.romhacking.net/translations/462/) put onto a cart. The game is a little more technical/challenging, but can quickly and easily be learned and has a plethora of (WWF/WCW) wrestlers.
  • Just to note, for X Premium you can create up to 80 characters and it has 100 wrestlers (uses fake names but you can edit them) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Fire_Pro_Wrestling_X_Premium
  • Well, technically it could be possible to add more characters into an existing fighting game via romhacking, as games of this genre are originally designed this way, i.e. characters and arenas are datasets rather than hardcoded. This has been done for Sega Genesis versions of all Mortal Kombat games (up to 56 characters in UMK3). But this would require a very skilled and dedicated person to perform, so realistic answer is still no.

That is good to know about Fire Pro Wrestling, do you know of anyone on this form that make this cart?

Google search SNES reproductions and the first thing to come up is your best bet.  or you could ask Timewalk Games but I dont know if he does requests.

I had the translated rom put onto a cart a few years back, so I can confirm it works (Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium).  It was a custom job, but I'm sure one of the SNES repro makers here on NA could help you out with that.

In addition, if you look online, you should be able to find some "SRAMs" (saved games) for the game, which somebody has already edited/created many of the past and present WCW/WWF wrestlers already.

    Hope this helps.
