They're easy to find cheap, most Lego people aren't too big into the Simpsons stuff since you can't really use them in other Lego stuff. Itchy and Scratchy are among the best in the series, I have an extra Scratchy and he's probably my favourite.
They're doing a second series soon, too, and a handful of Simpsons sets. I can't wait for those.
This may have been mentioned, but there's a neat little show on Netflix called "Inside Lego" or something similar. Pretty interesting. Made me want to go visit the factory.
Got Freddie Prinze Jr's ship in today. Hadnt seen this combo pack before. Used my coupon from amiibo toys r us screw up to get this. If you are looking for this ship at any point toys r us has it on sale. Its like buying ghost and getting the phantom for free.

Oh man, now I'm going to have to watch this. Thanks for mentioning that!
Here it is. Probably the most amazing set i've built yet, I actually stood back and looked at it, all the stuff online i've read where people have raved about it were completely true. Highly recommend this, even the price was very good for a licensed Lego set.
Wow guys. This thread blows my mind. I especially love the Nintedo-themed things (8-bit looking characters and so on). I recently picked up a TON of Lego's to use as trade bait... but now I'm thinking I may keep them and build some awesomeness for my game room! It's amazing what the Internet has done for toys of our youth such as Legos!

I have a ton of stuff to show since the holiday but this set was purchased incomplete a few years ago and I finally gathered the 800 or so bricks I needed to complete it.
Theres a lot of Lego enthusiasts that fund their collections through buying sets like the modulars and UCS Star Wars, stash them in a closet for a few years, then sell them. Quest mentioned this awhile back, i've looked into it and it's pretty common. What sucks is you need to wait 3-4 years before it pays off though.
Sets like the new Slave 1 and the Detective's Office will easily triple in that time frame.

Yeah, that's a lot of inventory space for a return that isn't going to scale very well (due to space limitations)
Do you really think Slave 1 is going to consistently sell for $600+ 3 or 4 years from now?
I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'm not sure I'd want to gamble on it, either.
Because stacking 10 of those in a closet where they're safe wouldn't be too bad, if there was a reasonable chance of that type of return. (unless the box is much bigger than I think)

Yeah I do. Lots of the retired UCS sets sell for hella dough. The original Millenium Falcons are over 2k each. Of course no one bought them back then with the idea of reselling, but once the Slave 1 is gone, it's gone, and Lego enthusiasts have deep pockets. $600 in a few years is pretty conservative to be honest.
whos getting the Shield carrier? (check your emails)
damn set cost 350 - 2996pieces
If I was into Shield I would, but thank god i'm not, that thing is massive.
The new UCS Tie Fighter on the other hand...
I find it really easy to pass on that Shield Carrier, even though it is impressive. I don't do super hero legos, I prefer fantasy based themes,Castles, Harry Potter, LOTR. I do have a soft spot for certain Star Wars sets and the modular building and I love to build houses.
@Empire How do you feel about the UCS Tie? I find it to be kind of Meh. Slave One is amazing, but I thought the regular edition Tie 9492 was pretty good. I don't find the leap between that the UCS to be that great. Obviously size and scale are far greater, I just don't find the additional detail to be overwhelming, What am I missing?

Well the Tie Figher isn't that detailed really, but nothin wrong with a bigger one.
I got mine as a Christmas gift from one of my grandmothers (I wasn't really expecting to receive a Lego set at my age (22) from her).
I'm assembling it with my girlfriend when we have a bit some free time. It's really nice but sometimes it gets a bit boring. Because of this we are going at a very slow pace.

Yeah I have that set. I actually really enjoyed building that one, the detail was great.
They have a Kwik-E-Mart set coming out in April I believe.
After looking at some more pics of it, i'm not impressed with the new Tie Fighter UCS. It's not a bad model, but it's way too much money. It's $229 in Canada, for only 1600 pieces. The Slave 1 was the same price and had 2000 pieces, and a much better look and build.
On the other hand though, Lego Pirates releases tomorrow. I'm gonna see if I can snag a Pirate ship today at Toys R Us, sometimes they release stuff early.

Nice. That is a SHITLOAD of minifigs!
Yeah and I got fucking awful figs from them. 12 new ones, 18 doubles.
They were on sale so I bought a bunch for trade bait for future series, won't find them cheaper than $2.99 anymore.

Love that Slave 1!

The Green Grocer set is ridiculous now, but so it Cafe Corner. All the discontinued modulars are going up up up

The box is about 24" wide, 12" tall, and 4" deep.
