FA: NES Artist Marc Ericksen Uncirculated GamePro #1 + Custom Print

Hey gang,

If you've ever seen the box artwork for Mega Man 2, then you'll probably enjoy what I'm about to auction off. In our presence is Marc Ericksen, the original artist for that infamous cover, and he's on a very simple mission: he'd like to make it to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo (PRGE) again this year and could use some help. I was recently contacted by Rick Weis who runs PRGE and he thought our community would be the perfect place to offer up some of these items. That said, I'm posting on Marc's behalf, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Here's more, from Marc:

Help me get to PRGE!! I'm interested in raising money to finance my booth and my trip, so I'm offering something from my extensive collection: I'm an illustrator who did the original art for many video game covers and video game magazines. My work can be seen at retrogameart.com

I am offering for auction a pristine, totally mint condition Issue Number one, Volume one of GamePro Magazine from May 1989. This was the 6 page teaser, absolutely the first issue for this classic retro magazine.

It featured their very first ProViews! For Nintendo: Operation Wolf, For Sega: Shinobi, and For Atari: Mario Bros! Printed in rich full color, on heavy gauge chrome coat card stock, it is one of a kind item, and very rare, especially in PERFECT condition. No cracks, splits, tears, or fades, kept in it's poly sleeve and cardboard backing for 24 years, it looks and feels like the day it was printed.

As the illustrator who created the cover art, I would be happy to sign it, but that is up to the purchaser.

But wait! There's more!! Included in the offer is a beautiful 13" X 19" current art print of the cover art, as the art was when I presented it to the client in 1989, printed in my own studio here in California, on heavy, museum quality, acid free, rag bond paper, showing the art, free of titles, borders, and intrusions, with an inset showing the cover as it appeared to the public. It includes my hand signed signature.

This represents an opportunity to own a piece of retrogame history, and I would be happy to answer any questions from any interested collectors.
