more colored 64's

So I've been living in Japan for a couple of weeks now. I went into a place called manga souko (a Japanese used outlet store) with my wife. I was searching for a regular Japanese 64. I picked up a standard one for 3,400 yen (aka 34 US dollars). Since I collect all the colored funtastic 64's my wife points out one sitting on the bottom shelf that I completely overlooked. It looked like a standard one from the top, but it just so happened to be the most rare 64 console! The jusco console! It didn't have a matching controller, but the console itself makes me happy. It was the same price as all the others. Very good day. I couldn't find one on eBay to compare. But my phone acts funny in Japan so maybe there is one on there.         image      image   image

  • Nice! I paid 300$ for mine. I wanna see pics!
  • nice i want pics aswell
  • Pics uploaded! I made a mistake, it was actually 3,980 yen which is $39.80 appox.
  • You paid $40 for this??? You bastard.

This is so awesome Uuuuggghhh envy...

  • Also where in japan did you find this?

I might try and stop by this place my next trip to japan.
  • Damn! That's a solid find.
  • Wow I never even knew this existed ... looks like the N64 collection just got a lot more expensive for me lol! Nice deal by the way!

    You have no idea..

     - This one boxed goes for $1200 ish

     - The Daiei Hawks boxed goes for $800 ish

OP - did you get the matching controller with it? There's another 150$+ for the controller

  • It doesn't really look different from the smoke grey fantastic one. How do you tell the difference?
  • Yeah, I'm having a hard time telling the difference as well.
  • The jusco top half is a little different color than the smoke grey. It has more of a purple-ish tint to it and it is a lighter grey. Also the bottom is a clear white like the blue/white and pink/white Japanese ones, and the flaps where you insert the cart are grey, not black. If I get a chance here in a bit, I’ll take a couple pictures of a smoke and a jusco side-by-side.

Edit: it's quite hard to tell the difference in pictures, but in person, side by side, there's a pretty obvious difference

Great!  Even more expenses, I don't even know what a Daiei Hawk is ...

Edit:  Just checked what it is and damn!  Also looks like you got that out of the way as well which is awesome.  How much did you pay for yours?

This is the Daiei Hawks. It's another Japan exclusive. Clear orange on the top and clear black on the bottom. I have one of mine converted to play North American games. hence why there's an american game in one and a Jap game in another lol.

  • Like I said, it'll be kind of hard to see the difference in pictures, but here they are anyways.

The Jusco is a lighter grey, and close up, looks to have a sort of purplish tint in it

  • Holy shit. Excellent find!
  • Ok, so I went to another one of these stores today (manga souko) and they had a bunch of colored systems! They are 3,000 yen ($30.00) for any color without an expansion pack, or $45.00 with an expansion pack. They had so many I couldn't even get all the ones I wanted because my wife would have killed me. They didn't have the D hawks, but they had gold, blue/white, red/white/, and a couple colored game cubes. I ended up picking up an orange game cube and the red/white 64 for $30.00 each. They all had matching controllers. Also picked up a hori controller for 23.00. I love this place! image image image
  • k3vbot still has a way better collection than I do lol. I'm still missing one American system and that is the watermelon red. I guess it will be a while before I have that one.
  • Dude, you’re getting some great scores over there! I paid about 130$ for my pink/white. It is CIB though, but still! 30$ for that!! and 39$ for the jusco!

    You want my shopping list

ps. You should pick up any system/controller boxes you can find over there
  • you could prolly make a decent profit flipping the colored japan systems on ebay. Advertise your an american seller liveing abroad on ebay and im sure alot of people would rather deal with you then someone that barley speaks english
  • Excellent finds!
  • That's a good idea. I did manage to pick up a white GC controller CIB. They have a ton of games CIB too. What's weird are game prices... You have games like ogre battle for 4.00 but 1080 is 17.00 lol. I'm going again on Friday to both stores and ill try to get some pics of this place.

They had three there yesterday. I haven't shipped anything out yet but I'll look into shipping costs. I'm still waiting to move into my house at the moment so my hotel room is filling up fast lmao.
  • I bet! So you are liveing there? Do you teach english?

Thats awesome that they had so many!

I wonder, Have you seen a gameboy light while you have been there?
  • I've seen tons of game boys here. Mostly advances/ds... One color in box. I'm military so I got stationed here for a few years. I wish I could speak japanese and read it because some of their games are so fun, but I get stuck at parts. I got soul caliber 2 for GameCube and its mostly English... I don't know why some games are japanese and others are English.
  • Killer find!!!
