~600 NES (~300 boxed) and 400+ Genesis & some other trinkets...

Hi everyone!  Pretty happy with my new purchase (just bought all of this yesterday).  Check it out:

The strat-guides along the bottom are not part of the purchase.  I have been building a collection of guides for a while.  There is acutally a sealed Link to the Past in here, see if you can find it

Some consoles

The rest of the NES games (non-boxed) and the Genesis underneath them

Nintendo Power and stuff

About 300 clear boxes left over

The person I bought this from had all of the boxes folded down in these manilla envelopes

You guys will think I am the most psychotic person on the planet for saying this but.. I paid $850 for this purchase. There is also some other crazy stuff like a Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego Box Set w/ Encyclopedia for Genesis and a Action Replay for GameCube and just a bunch of random and awesome stuff.

No.. Not a collection.. This was literally her entire life. Apparently she and her husband were going to start a video game store together before he passed away from some sort of heart failure.  She had been paying for storage for the last 15 years or so. I met this person about a year ago and bought little bits and pieces of it over time. She kept asking me if I wanted to just buy all of it - to which I would say: How? I cannot afford all of this. Two weeks ago she said she would let it go to me for $850. I feel like it has just become a burden for her and she knew I couldn't afford it. I think just looking at it made her hurt and trying to sell it piece by piece was just not an option for her.. Sad..

there were def better deals discovered, trust me, search the forums.  But yes, this is absolutely ridiculous, especially for $850.  Crazy stuff man.  Sad about her husband but at least it went to a good home.

I dunno. You guys tell me. I'm selling all of it. I need about 20k for a down payment on a house so I am hoping there are some rares.

I might even sell off my strat-guide collection too...  BTW it's all going on eBay.
  • Hey just want to say that all of this stuff will be sold on eBay only. My eBay user id is dummyfile.bin
  • Eh....too bad it didn't land in the hands of a collector.

Yeah, if he actually got all this for 850, then shame it went to someone who'd resell it right away. Too bad he only sells on ebay, otherwise I'd be all over that Snow Bros and Bonk's adventure
  • Good way to advertise the eBay sales I suppose.
  • Everything looks so neat, like it's been there for a while ... My spider senses be tingling.
  • any rares?! are you serious? There a goddamn boxed Snow Bros in there!

Yeah man, I watch a lot of these guys on youtube who collect for the fun of it and don't really have tons of money to spend like BitHead1000 and RyanRightN0w, I would love to see someone like that come across a collection like this instead of a reseller
  • Oh... ebay. Wonder why the lady didn't go the route of selling the lot online.

People don't always see one specific game in a lot of 300 the first time...

Ahh, the ignorance of our youth
  • Yeah, not to be negative but something isn't adding up. I mean, did you REALLY have those bookshelves just laying around and have the the time to put all those games and strategy guides in there? Then there could be the "I took the pictures at her place" comeback. I don't know. Just looks like the person with this was a collector for a while, and now needs the money for school, getting out of the hobby or whatever. Again, sorry to be negative but I'm just looking at the bigger picture. Seem like a newer member coming here looking for new clientele to buy the stuff off their Ebay store. And that's not a problem. I just hope there is truth to this story you are telling us is all. Sorry for sorta thread crapping.

Regardless, it's a lot of good stuff.

If I would have found this stuff a couple of years ago I would most certainly have kept it.  But I would most likely be selling it now anyways.. Or probably just have a bunch of other problems as a result.. One or the other I suppose.

I used to consider myself a collector but I have recently begun to realize that stuff in this world has no real value.  I am 28 now and have been broke my entire adult life. I just got a job as a sys-admin for an elementary/middle school but before this I had been working min-wage jobs all my life. I am a single dad with a 6 year old daughter and have never been able to afford a decent size home for us.  I look at this "find" and my new job as opportunities to take care of business for once in my life and focus on what's really important.

At least tell us you will buy GTA V with some of the money you make off that stuff. That will help me sleep better at night!

I didn't mean anything bad by it but you can see where I am coming from when a newer member comes in saying that they just bought this stuff and want to unload it on Ebay. But it's all good. I was the picture on 1up and a few things looked the same (The Genesis 3 and the Atomic Purple N64 box). But congrats on the sale and good luck getting the cash you need.

Sorry to thread crap. It's unlike me. I was just voicing my opinion. =)
  • I seen a boxed snow brothers and boxed princess tomato

I was eyeing up that Fire N' Ice over to the far left there but I wouldn't have the funds to cover the sale at the moment anyway. Makes me sad.
