Sealed FF Nes

Today i found an awesome sealed copy of final fantasy on the nes. The seams look right to me. Overall i think its in good shape. The top looks great, but the bottom does have some slight creases and crushing. I was wondering what you guys would value it at?

  • You are going to need lots of pics
  • the seal is legit but that box...wooof

The people that collected sealed games collect because they are generally in good shape. As for price wise I would take what ever info you can find on past sales and put your copy at the bottom of that.

Yeah... I have seen people open sealed games in that kind of shape because they are only worth CIB prices.

  • the webcam i am using doesn't do it justice. I believe it's in better shape than in the pics. I'm gonna take some more with my phone to see if i can get better quality pics.
  • Condition is pretty rough, I wouldn't put any premium on a common, beat up sealed game.
  • I realize that the condition is not the best, but this game is factory sealed. I just want to know the fair market value of it.

I think you got the answer. It's basically worth a CIB.  It's a common game, and while being factory sealed CAN bring a premium, it does need to be in fair shape, or the premium isn't really there.  Pictures show LOTS of box crushing.  Worst part of it being sealed in that shape is you don't know if any of the contents is damaged (however unlikely). At best you have a mint cartridge and manual / maps etc.
  • i guess you guys are right, i paid a good bit for it so i guess i'm a little bummed. Live and learn though.
  • I'm not by any means a sealed collector expert, but I know enough to know that condition means more to a sealed game than the seal itself essentially. I would guess that it is about the price of a good condition CIB Final Fantasy, with maybe a $30 window in either direction depending on the exact condition. If I had to guess, I would think this would be a 40-50 on the VGA scale but again, not an expert in that realm either.
  • Because of the condition IMO it would have been worth getting more so had it been this variant

It's all part of collecting! Everyone takes a chance now and then. Sometimes they turn out, other times they dont.  Best way to know what it's worth.. Put it on e-bay.. Take good pictures and see.  Might we inquire what you paid?  Hopefully south of $100?

  • I would put this around $75-100, hard to tell from the pics though
  • i actually paid $130 for it at half price books. I think i'm going to return it now though.
  • I hope the store doesn't fold up and skip town with that heist before you make it back.
  • Wow that's a shame but I'm not a sealed buyer and just have one myself I'm holding onto but when I go into it if it's not out of a collectors hands I assume the worst and work up from it and $130 I would have looked at it, multiple times and looked hard, then got sad and walked away. FF takes a huge jump between CIB and sealed not jacked up, but sealed jacked is in there with an usable complete copy.

My HPB up the street a mile from here has one too, complete, but the box is fubar and they want $18, but since I have everything but the box I left it as crushed cardboard means nothing to me. They also had a decapitated Zelda(gold) and Tyson too with the top smashed. THere were a few other nice CIB or CBs they oddly TAPED UP! I bought two as they were cheap on a gamble and very slowly I got the damned tape off so I got Adventure Island (CB) and Ninja Gaiden 2 (CIB+poster) out of it thankfully for $14 between the two.
  • yea I would rather have mint CIB than a sealed game someone sat on
  • I wouldn't be surprised if it approached $150 on eBay. I wouldn't want any part of it either, but there are always people on eBay who will bid on worn items.

Same with sunfaded boxes or coverless manuals. I look at them as useless but I've seen eBay bidders scoop em up!

I am with you sooooooooooooooooooooo much on this. I can understand a box being creased or crushed by accident but seeing sun faded stuff hurts. It kind of shows me that the owners who let them get that way really didn't really care about them.
  • People like me would love to open that sucker up and take the mint condition contents out and put them in a nice box to own a mint CIB.

That thing is basically worth CIB price unfortunately.
  • 130 price is eeekkk but you never know what could happen if you put it on ebay. I'd trade other games for it but I doubt I'd put that amount of cash on it. Yeah I'm sure someone wants the contents inside. Could be minty fresh! So did you return it?
  • oh wow you're like in the exact area i just moved from. Which half price books was this at if you don't mind me asking? Guessing Northwest hwy?
  • Rockwall actually was were i got it, i did return it though.
