Rom Splitting

I am trying to split Dragon Quest V for the SNES into two pieces so I can put it on two M27C801 eproms and then use a 2-A3M-11 board. Every program I use however seems to give me weird formated files that dont seem to work once it's all hooked up. I want the files to be split and end up as bin files.

This is what I'm trying to do.

Edit*- I just noticed that this board is a 2A3M-10 and mine is 2A3M-11 not sure if it makes a difference.

  • Have you tried using this?

EDIT:  DOH! ....  Just realized you want it for SNES.
  • This works good, but it requires... Microsoft .net framework I think. Would be nice of the authors could have specified all the software requirements.

There's also SNESTool, but it's for DOS and doesn't explain splitting very well. I can't quite remember what you do... It has to do with how you name the files. I think you have to change the file extension of what you want split.

  • Oh and as for your question concerning the board type, or model whatever. The last two digits are probably a revision or something, not important. What really matters is whether the board is HiROM or LoROM and if it has enough SRAM for the game you wish to put on it. Most games are okay with more SRAM than needed, but obviously you don't want to have less than necessary.

I wonder if there are rewiring instructions for EPROMs. I haven't run into a 16Mbit or less SNES repro ROM yet.
