Lots of Smaller Finds! Sega, N64, Nintendo DSI XL! 9/8/13

Decided to save up a bunch of smaller finds and post them all at once. Here is an accumulation of the things I've managed to grab over the last 3-4 days. It's good to be back out there finding things again after a hiatus.

And can anyone help me with that pirated game there? It seems to be a six game cart with Contra III, Super Mario World, and a few others.

  • Have you fired up that multi-cart yet? I've got 2 of them for the SNES and one is in a shell like that but green plastic, and then one in a SFC style case. The green one is very abnormal as it's not listed on snescentral or other sites so it's a unique pirate, the other is a common one that most people end up with having stuff like SMW, FZero, and a few others. The horrible tape or whatever is reflecting that entire label other than the Super Mario World square. I'll bet you anything it's the Japanese version like my common has, and the pirates never put a battery in there so unless you have a few hours to burn it won't be very useful.

Those snes pirates sadly are more worthless than the NES multicarts as the two I picked off were in the $10 range on ebay+shipping. If you decide to keep it have fun, if you decide not to keep me in mind as I collect them if they're different enough from what I have as they're handy to use in a Supaboy.
  • I don't know if it's just me but i see WAY more in box genesis game then loose in the wild. is it the same for anybody else?

nice finds! wish i found games in those cases
  • It's because the Genesis boxes were made to actually hold and store the games. They're neigh indestructible as far as game cases go, and they can take a hell of a beating. Whereas the Nintendo boxes were almost always cardboard.

Pretty much this. I mean, just how many kids nowadays care about the packaging when it comes to a videogame? Every kid that I knew (when I was just chibi Toshabi) who got a new game tore the damn box wide open, throw it into the air, charged up a spirit bomb and blew that fucker into oblivion. You had to have really gone out of your way to destroy a genesis case.

One of the best finds I'd ever had came about because an older lady would open the games for her kids, then save the boxes, manuals, and all the inserts and put them away in the closet for later on. I would say a very high percentage of games that are CiB and in good condition today come from unsold copies, or copies that were sold to older kids or young adults that took care of them.

When I was a kid, I use to keep all my boxes. I had a nice collection ranging from SNES games like Mario RPG to GBC games like every pokemon version ever. Then, "Clean out the boxes in the closet" day happened in my house. Bye bye monies!

  • It's better than your parents deciding all of your older stuff needed to be sold in a garage sale while you were away at college. Imagine how pissed off I was when I went looking in the attic for all my older stuff and was told it was gone. I wasn't happy. This was after I raided a local Funcoland's bargain bin back when you could get SNES carts for .99 cents. I believe I still had a Super Mario RPG cart with the .99 cent sticker on it.
  • I'd rather my boxes go to some dweeb than to have them be used as a pillow for hobos. >:[
