Legit Gamecube seal?

I bought this copy of Smash Bros Melee for a friend off amazon. I haven't seend a sealed gamecube game in a while but the Y folds on this look kind of botched. If someone could confirm I would really appreciate it.

  • Looks like a fake to me
  • I would like other people to weigh in but it looks as if this is a reseal. Whats the best way to handle this with the seller on amazon?
  • How much did you pay for it?
  • I paid 100 for it
  • I'd get your money back if he had it listed as Brand New since it's not.
  • File a claim i woudnt even try talking to the guy.
  • I would say that is a fake. Here are pictures of a real sealed one at my store.
  • Can you PM me the url for his store?
  • Sorry for the necro bump but I wanted to say thanks for the help and I returned for a full refund. The seller was very understanding and fair. (Still looking for a black label copy too...)
  • Somebody clue me in here, what was fake about it? It has the corner flaps folded the same as a real one... ?
  • The seal looks like a hack job compared to USFLegends pic above.
  • 99% certain it's a reseal. I used to work at a game shop and we'd seal empty video game boxes to put on the shelves so customers could see what they're buying.

The hole you see in the middle pic is almost definitely the result of a person putting too much heat on the shrink wrap while sealing the game. You can also tell the seal on the ends were not done by a machine, but more likely a person trying to do their best to make it look real.

I do see yours as a bit more wavy, but couldn't that be a manufacturer defect? Or maybe it was something that was circulated and caused some sort of damage due to enviromental or human negligence? Usually someone's hack job is a bit more obvious like very loose cello, or no fold flaps at all.

  • Im trying to see if this is a legit sealed game or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated
