"Most of these NES games go for $1-$2 a piece" is technically a true statement. He never said anything about Metal Storm specifically... obviously a total grey area, can't say I would have done the same thing but I also can't blame you that much.
So how much did they want for the SNES and NES systems?
Didn't bother asking. Neither had any power adapters or av cables and the NES had seen better days (lots of yellowing).
I used to be this way too, but sometimes they'll come back with a crazy low price like $1 when I ask. If the system looks clean it's usually worth going up to $5 even if barebones, and $10 if it has the hook-ups and a controller.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind in the future.
Usually when I buy stuff anymore I try several times to have them give me a price before I throw a number out. I feel a lot better about working with there estimation of worth then giving them a number. I guess I'd rather know that they felt like they got a good deal or got what they wanted out of it instead of offering a low number and then I feel like I ripped them off.
Its a damn garage sale people! If they wanted top dollar they should have done the research and sold it on ebay. People don't get up at 7am on a Saturday to pay ebay prices...the entire point is to get steals. My goal is to spend as little money as possible. I've paid 50 cents for Duck Tales 2, received a CIB Chrono Trigger for free, and talked someone down from $10 to $5 on an Atari Jaguar, and sorry but I couldn't care less if some stranger on the internet finds that immoral or not. If you want to feel better by offering more money than a seller asks, then offer the full market value. Otherwise all you're doing is throwing money away for no reason, other than to post about it on here and brag about what a "great person" you are. When best buy marked the Kirby collection down to $7.99 did you go in there and offer to pay $20 for it since it was selling for $40 everywhere else?!
If the seller didn't make research prior to the sale, then it's his fault that he sold a rare game for cheap. I think there's nothing wrong with this score, and besides that, who wouldn't want Metal Storm for that cheap?
I agree that the seller should know better, so nice score I guess. I just personally didn't like the comment about "most are $1-$2", which is quite a persuasive response in an attempt to avoid the fact the mom pulled Metalstorm directly out of the pile.
Technically not a lie, feels/sounds a little shady, but she totally should have spent 5 minutes to google that game if she had a hunch to pull it out of the pile.
Seriously. I think it is funny how some people are coming down on him for "lying." If they really cared wouldnt they have looked it up. When they said "I think these are worth more" if he didnt say they are only worth a couple bucks, do you think that would have changed anything? The whole point of going to garage sales is to try to find games for a couple bucks, that might be worth way more. You cant tell me everyone drives around to garage sales and hopes to be honest and pay ebay prices. Everyone needs to chill out. Plus everyone knows that "buyers are liars." I am in sales and people will do whatever they can to get a good deal, if the seller doesnt care to do their homework, then it is their fault. They set the pricing, not him. Sometimes I feel like some people here on NA are way too quick to judge people and call people out for every little stupid thing...like posting the same topic again or posting in the wrong forum. Who gives a shit...people need to stop taking this place so serious. It is a video game forum, remember that...youre not cool or powerful for scolding people, just makes you look like toolbox.
Plus this guy was brand new and this is how your greet him, is to try to make him feel like a jerk in front of everyone.
Sorry for the anger, but it is not just this situation, I am more referring to other situations I see on here.

Understatement of the damn century.
This place is crawling with internet white knights and know-it-alls who clearly have no life outside of the internet and love nothing more than to start an argument over the dumbest things. You could probably start a thread called "Mario 3 is the greatst video game ever made" and at least 1 or 2 people would have a 20 paragraph long rant about how you are wrong and an idiot for even liking the game

I think I smell jealousy, people
Also, PICS or it never happened

I'm all about getting great deals but if it was a kid, I'd throw in an extra $5 or $10. That money will be a much bigger deal to him than it is to me.
