  • Not me; I find it almost impossible to collect for just the NES as I run across so many other systems at flea markets and garage sales...things are too cheap to pass up sometimes, thus the birth of a new system to collect for.  image

For you, what is the definition of someone who collects for only the NES?  I'm just curious because to me...I have a Wii, so I feel that I collect for it.  Is it someone who only owns the NES?
  • I am a gamer at heart, but I only "collect" for the NES. I have like 10 or 12 systems with games that I like for each. I just get the carts that I actually want to play on all of them. My newest system is a Wii, the I have the other 3 just out of date systems as well. I can't afford to collect for more than one system so I only do NES. When I get a happy stopping point for NES I will do SNES and N64 prob. I have thought about doing N64 lately, but have about decided I can't afford to do it just yet.

  • Mainly NES, although I got a Sega Genesis this year and some titles I remember from the old days.  I still need Golden Axe 2 CIB...  I also plan to get some SNES titles I never had like Street Fighter 2, Super Metroid, and Final Fantasy 3...
  • I collect NES carts and NES players from around the world....but I also took a break from NES a decade ago and collected all the gaming consoles released for the USA. Oddyssey to Xbox. Not sure which I am most proud of. Back to NES now. Seems some more odd stuff has turned up....and NGDs list.
  • I only collect NES stuff.  I do pickup other older systems and games when I find them cheap, but that is just so I can sell them to support my NES habit.
  • I own many different systems with many, many games, but I only truely collect for the NES. The others are just like Jason said, the games I want to play.
  • I collect 8 bit systems only, which covers a lot of systems, but I only really "care" about NES. The rest is just fluff to me (fun, but fluff) image
  • I have so many systems I can't quite keep track of them all, but I only really collect NES, SMS, SNES and Genesis. Maybe when I start getting those cleaned out I will start turning one of my other consoles into a collection, but not right now. Except the DS, I'm considering collecting for that one too image
  • I also have thought about collecting for DS cause I really seem to enjoy all the DS games I have played. Plus there cases look very nice and store very easily. Maybe someday.

  • I'm primarily NES, but I pick up other games if I see good deals. I also have a 360 and a Wii with some current gen titles.
  • I have complete collections for a lot of things other than NES, which means that I used to collect for more consoles, but I don't anymore. Right now I'm just into NES, SNES and N64. I think you are able to just collect for NES only when you first start collecting because you will constantly be running in to things that you need. But the more stuff the get, the harder and harder it will be to keep finding things, which gets boring, so you have to move on to something else, even if NES is your primary focus.
  • I LOVE the NES way too much and want every single thing there is including every minute variation for all NES stuff... that being said I am devoted to NES only!! I do have 98-99% of a complete Sega Game Gear collection including 4 systems and all boxed accessories for all 4 systems in crates in my garage, just lost interest in it. I only collected this stuff cause I hated the green screen GameBoy, reminded me of the Commodore 64, and I wanted color. I also have a SNES with about 50 games, a few of the rare N64 titles CIB that I just bought in case I ever decided to collect for that system and of course my PS2 and about 50 games. I mainly only play the SOCOM games, I just love those way too much!! But all being said, I always go back to NES and wanting to get everything before I even think about anything else.
  • I collect only nes. Actually NES is the only system I've ever owned.
  • I'm wierd I collect all NES games loose along with the pal-exclusives...

...and then I collect Dance Dance Revolution games image I have every one for ps1/2 and Xbox, and am thinking about getting a 360 when the prices come down to get Universe. I may mod my ps2 at some point to play the japan imports as well...

But I play no other games for any modern system. I own Worms for Xbox which my wife likes...and I think that's it.
  • I collect NES and N64 for now

and a tiny tiny bit of SNES and Gamecube
  • I mainly get just the stuff I want to play unless I can get it cheap. I have way too many systems. Atari 2600 to Gamecube/PS2, missing some odd ones like 3DO, and CD-i but they don't have any games I'd play. Oddly enough I've found myself collecting the sega saturn. It has a lot of great RPGs I never got to play. For the most part I have more NES than anything else, but I have a lot of games for all the systems I own.
  •

I collect mainly NES. I do however pick up other systems and their games along the way. I found a Sega for $3.99 at Goodwill and I couldn't pass that up! I also found a Sega Game Gear, too, but I don't play that too often. I never had a SNES up until a few years ago. Nintendo is my first love/main love so I have many more games for the NES than I do for other systems. Newer game systems don't really interest me, except for the DS- I picked one up recently and I really want to get some of the original NES games for it.

  • Lately, I've been primarily collecting NES stuff. Before, though, it was mainly a quest to get a few good RPGs (my favorite genre), American and imported... Since that quest is largely accomplished (with a few notable exceptions, mostly recent), I've all but lost interest in much of the RPG collecting (though I plan on keeping a few of my better ones, like my Final Fantasies, Valkyrie Profiles, Genso Suikodens, Lunars, and a few others). I guess that's where the NES collecting stepped in...

  • Im selling all my other systems, and just going to collect Nes Stuff................325 Nes Games and Counting.....
  • I've been collecting for Nintendo & Sega for a few years now, primarily for the VB & 64DD. I've nearly completed both sets now and the last 2 games on each set are mega bucks and extremely scarce.
So I've decided in the mean time to start to focus more on NES & Master System but to keep a bit of cash aside for when these VB & 64DD games surface so I can be competitive. NES & SMS were my first true loves so thats why I'd like to get fairly decent collections for both.
I've also decided that a complete NES collection is out of reach for me with the likes of SE etc, but a complete SMS collection isn't so I think I'll be pushing that one harder in the next few months and the games are a lot cheaper.
  • I just collect NES, although, I think Super Nintendo is one of the finer systems every made. I have a SNES console and about twenty games, but I only pick them up in garage sales or thirft stores.

As far as NES, as I'm sure most people on here can identify with, it is a nostalgic thing. It was the first system I ever had as a kid and I honestly believe the games can't be matched even by today's standards. Plus, when we were kids my family didn't have a lot of money, so I could never afford the games I wanted. Nice to be half way to an adult!!

My NES collection is constantly growing thanks to all the great people here!
