Sigh.....getting a little misty eyed here you guys. Today a boyhood dream 25 years in the making has finally been fulfilled.
With today's mail arrival, a sealed "Crash Go-Kart w/ J.R." I have now completed my CIB/Sealed collection of the 1st wave of Incredible Crash Dummies.
The Go Kart w/ J.R. has eluded me for well over a decade now on eBay. It has only come up a few times, and every time I have lost out.
Last weekend, fortune finally went my way. A brand new seller with 0 feedback put it up as a BIN well below the prices I've been fighting over for years.
Today it finally came, I opened the package with baited breath, and it is sealed and absolutely flawless.
I've had the loose figure/vehicle for years, but I can hardly believe after all these years I finally got a boxed one.
I was starting to think it was never going to happen.
For comparison, here is the front and back of the boxes for both versions of the Crash Go Kart
The one on the left is very rare and released in Wave 1, the one on the right is uncommon and released in Wave 2
Did you ever end up getting those Crash Dummies oriiginal paintings?
Those were awesome !
No, he was displaying them on his personal website, I didn't bother to see if he was parting ways with anything or not as it would be out of my price range anyway. But he sure did do some awesome work! The Bad Dudes artwork would be nice to have!

Good job. I think I said it before in this thread but just seeing your posts makes me feel very nostalgic about these things.
Thanks, always makes me happy to hear other people have fond memories of these

I mean the artwork that were posted on EBay years ago.
There were some posted on eBay a few years back, no?
Hopefully you can help me out I came across crash dummies Larry and axel from 1985 U.S. D.O.T which is department of transportation... I was reading everything you have posted and I saw nothing in all my research about figures the gov made back in 85 for the commercial... Maybe you would know

They read copyright 1985 because that is when the DOT originally created the characters. The figures are actually from 1991. When the line was first launched, the toys became heavily criticized and the DOT quickly did not like the association the toys brought to glorifying car crashes in their eyes. TYCO was forced to remove the Vince & Larry names, and change it to Slick & Spin. This all happened in the course of a few months in 1991.

This is the one that was on eBay.
Ahh, that is artwork from the European only "racing" line, the final line of Incredible Crash Dummies. Because it was European only, and I have no nostalgia for them, I've never collected anything from this line. They are expensive, obscure, and for some reason all the non-English on the boxes turns me off, so I've never gone after these items. Perhaps one day...
Some of these toys are rarer than Stadium Events, I swear. I haven't seen the plane pictured below (Flying Dunce)
show up on eBay boxed in years now. Even a loose, broken, incomplete one will make money.
its funny I was just thinking about this toy line the other day. I miss the blue car I used to have. I cant remember what else I had but I specifically remember it and the pets
Still one of my favorite collections ever on nintendoage.
Do you have an updated pic of all your crash stuff ?
I actually do not have one truly full pic like I should, I always planned to do one when I became truly satisfied with the completeness of my collection, I'm not quite there yet, but I should take an updated photo. I have everything together, i just don't keep it out. It's tough to set everything up because I got damn cats these days!
I could have sworn they were called "Crash *Test* Dummies".... have you ever heard that? My fiance just said the same thing when I showed her the picture without the Logo.

I never even noticed the thread title, but i'm pretty sure they were Crash Test Dummies here too, although maybe that's just because of the band being popular around that time.

They were only known as "Crash Dummies" in Canada, not "Incredible Crash Dummies" or "Crash Test Dummies"
The "Crash Test Dummies" were Vince and Larry, the spokesmen for the safety PSAs on TV from 1985-1999
These toys are based on those commercials, but they are not the same franchise. The Department of Transportation distanced themselves from these toys early on.
These ads and commercials were not related to the toys, which I think is what has so many of you confused
In the late 80s Gary Larson released a compilation book "Night of the Crash Test Dummies"
In 1991 Tyco Toys released "Vince & Larry The Crash Dummies" and within weeks were forced to cease all production by the Department of Transportation.
The word "test" was never used. Aside from the regular line of figures, no additional "Vince and Larry" merchandise was ever released.
Tyco quickly brought the line back to shelves in 1991 as "The Incredible Crash Dummies" and Vince/Larry became Slick/Spin.
Crash Test Dummies was a rock band from Winnepeg who had a huge hit in 1993 with "Mmm mmm mmm mmm"

This was done with the ATV & Lawn Mower as well.

Either that or I’m losing my mind.
I had found a bunch of his artwork for show on his website one time.
I finally have a working VCR in the living room today so I took the time to put in the movie Airheads
and get a shot of the scene where Steve Buscemi robs an Incredible Crash Dummies doll
from the toy store he works at and then gives it to Adam Sandler as a gift.
He procedes to make out with it, and then 69s it with a pig

These were never advertised in any way and I have no idea how close they ever came to release.
Rod & Gasket (these characters never existed in any form), Axel (without glasses) & one of the Darlene prototypes.
I'm amazed to see something new to me, but I feel like these would have been pretty needless figures to introduce.

I'm pretty sure I never saw this on TV because my friends and I used to argue as kids if these figures even existed
Crash Go Kart/ATV/Mower (1992)
I was pretty blown away to find somebody recently uploaded an Incredible Crash Dummies commercial that I never knew existed
