  • I realize brake fluid sounds harsh but I absolutely swear by it. I but a 2 dollar container at the supermarket and it will last a lifetime. I've only come across a couple of carts that I couldn't get clean using brake fluid. Apply it and wipe it off. Repeat as necessary. If you have not tried this, try it.
  • dot 3 brake fluid is your friend for marker.. do as nesman said. Make sure not to get any on the label. It is literally the easiest and best way to remove marker. I personally use toilet paper folded up with a little dot3 on it, rubbing [not scrub or forceful rubbing] in circular motion over marker. Once the dot 3 is covering the marker spot, just let it sit for a minute and rub in a circular motion again. If there is still some, repeat. Then wipe off the rest of the dot 3 so cart is dry. The dot 3 will take off all the marker without any elbow grease [force].

@nesman: I do not get how people do not know about brake fluid. Its the best!!

I will go grab some of this and try it out on the cart after work today. I also added another picture to my photobucket to show my progress so far. Hopefully this works as good as you guys say it does. I will post more pics after I use it.

    Thank guys!!!!!
  • Rubbing alcohol generally works, but if it's particularly stubborn try coloring over the area with a dark colored dry erase marker. Let it sit for a minute or two then rub off with rubbing alcohol. It usually works like a dream.

See that's what my buddy swears by. He uses it all the time and he said it works like a dream. Might try that first since it's a minor step and can be quickly debunked.
  • Actually marker. Alcohol on some occasions has done more harm than good. I find goo gone works better when removing marker
  • I have no idea which is the better method!!!

You can get the brown out. Just use rubbing alcohol and a ton of elbow grease. I don't mean 15 minutes, but hours and it will come out! My entire collection is near mint and I've gotten all the marker out of all my games. (With exception of Nam on the AES as it is a variant with the marker due to them marking out the women on the labels because of country laws)

Well I messed with the brown for about 30 minutes after I got the marker off. It was fading away but I got tired and took a break. I will go at it again using rubbing alcohol after work.
I happy with the results so far. Maybe I can get it like new with a little elbow grease!
  • Glad to hear people are finally starting to use and recommend my brake fluid method. The cart looks great!
  • Not sure if this has been mentioned but using a regular ol' school eraser with alcohol should help a little. I dip the tip of the eraser in alcohol and slowly erase the marker away. Just be very careful as sometimes the marker will bleed and you wouldn't want it bleeding on the label.

I don't know who came up with it, I just introduced it here.  I think.
