hopefully next year we get more peeps ... not exactly sure on turnout as I arrived late and left early, but it was good meeting the various people on the forums
I forgot to bring my pic ... and I think NGD and everyone else that went to the expo is either sleeping ... or out with the brewskies or home with the kiddos ... pictures were taken...I just forgot to bring my camera
Well I was there when it opened and there was probably 25 peeps in line. Everyone filtered in right at 10am on schedule. Looked like there about 10-12 tables. There were a couple tables with quite a bit of stuff so those were crowded. I was kinda looking to load up on games it looked like prices were market value and it was a bit chaotic crowd wiseand I didn't want to take the time to try to wheel and deal so I just took the checklist to the car.
I had the wife with me so after we did a couple walkthrough's she started getting bored because she has to be attached at my damn hip all the time, lol.
I ended up picking up a couple of the win lose or draw games, 4 tshirts, the resident evil 4 chainsaw controller two gamecube games and a couple of those acryllic cases. Bought one for 15.00 and got one free which was kick ass. Took 300 dollars looking to load up on NES gmes and didn't buy one, lol. Was still alot of fun and for the first one I would say it looked like a success while I was there. I did see alot of really good deals on current games. Alot of 360 and ps3 games for 20 bucks or under. I would think alot of those would have sold.
Overall was a nice trip to check out some games and hang with fellow nerds. One other thing I enjoyed was seeing the sealed games that are graded now, whoever is doing that. That was really cool.
i dont think i saw a graded sealed win lose or draw but the sealed win lose or draw games i think the seller sold for $5 a pop - i brought a whopping $6 with me to the expo and with some dealings later had enough money to pay NGD the money i owed him for a ditka and gas money to get home
sounds like a blast, can someone please explain what the vga grade things are, I still dont understand them, it looks like just plastic cases you put over the game
Well the cases are nice. Very hard acrylic. As far as the grading, someone else would be able to tell you better but I believe it is the service where you send them your sealed games and they grade them. I believe they buy sealed games, grade them and sell them at a markup. For sealed collectors I could see why they might be against the idea. If the service continues to take off I would think it would be hard to sell or trade sealed games if they werent graded. People might not want to trade or buy if it hasn't been graded. Plus anyone who knows what to look for could grade a game themselves without sending it in and paying for it to be graded. I don't know much about it tbh, but it is nice seeing rare titles in crisp form graded and in those nice cases. Can't say I wasn't tempted to blow my cash on one of em at the expo. Wife would have whooped my ass though.
I got a sealed Win Loose or Draw for $5, a really awesome world class service center signs, a wisdom tree mosses sign and mike ditka's play action football from NGD, #12. Did not win the SE cart but I had a great time meeting everyone, and the after party was awesome, lube tube's rule!
Well...things didn't exactly go as planned as far as winning the Ditka Special Edition , so when one came to auction, I ended up throwing down some decent cash for it ($225). Btw...someone *did* draw the Special Edition cart. If you have #21 on your box, a winner is you. Really unusual, though, is that I ended up buying exactly 21 (yes, 21...20 for the pre-orders and 1 for me) copies of the Ditka...
More details from the Expo:
-I got to meet about a dozen of NAers face-to-face. On the whole, it seems like many of you are just like the people you seem to project yourselves to be on the forum. And Nistle, buddy...you gotta talk once in a while .
-Ross, myself, and Tom from VGA had a lengthy discussion about grading sealed games. At the end of said discussion, Tom gave me, my 2 friends, and Ross each one of his acrylic cases. Very classy of him, for sure .
-I ended up buying a *TON* of stuff at the Expo (a nice handful of CIBs, a Rodland rental box (!), and a few other things), and I'm not sure where I'm going to put it all, especially the 3 boxed Miracle Pianos (!) that I bought.
Overall, it was great fun. Looking forward to next year. If it's in Knoxville, I'll be there for sure. If it's anywhere else, I may have to book a flight .

o ok, thanks for explaining it man, now i wont feel like a noob in the auction forums
The expo was amazing. The after party was even better.
As for the VGA stuff, they don't buy the games from you. You send them in to get graded for a price and they send them back to you in a sealed Acrylic case with the grade in the case with the game. The people who have had games graded are the ones that jack up the prices. It's a pretty decent service, if that's your thing. The whole reason we got into the conversation with the VGA guy is because I had some sealed games that I was going to open right at his table, but after talking with him for a while, I couldn't do that to them. Very cool to meet so many of you. I can't wait for the next one. 974

Just curious, why 'd you buy that many Miracle Pianos? You must have gotten em cheap?
I think the best part of the trip for me was actually hanging out and talking video games with people who actually gave a fuck. Well that, and watching every single person around the table shut up and stare, open mouthed, every time Thor opened his mouth to talk that first night there.
I'd like to say that the Expo was great. The After-Party was even better, getting to know a lot of the people there. I didn't buy a lot, but my friend won the SE Ditka Cartridge (8bitking). I was dissappointed that there were no "Big Dollar" Games for sale, but The event was NOT dissappointing. Hopefully next time there is another event soon. I saw Thor get 790 thousand, I didn't see him get over a million. I think Penguin beat his score (in my opinion).

Congrats to all the organisers, sounds like everyone had a great time.

Also wondering about the NWC contest too
Couldn't have had more fun, it was great to meet and hang out with so many of you guys.

Heh, you sure?! I was asked about 100 times about the Myriad, and my reply was the same every time, "Sure I'll sell it -- $10,000 and it's yours"
I saw quite a few big dollar games there, but I guess it's all a matter of perspective.
