Animal Crossing Wild World in sleeve instead of case

I picked up this complete copy of Animal Crossing Wild World, not realizing that all but one of the listings on eBay are in hard cases.  There is only one like this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/330982491540), so I'm wondering if this is some rare variant or pack-in from something.  Maybe an employee promo?  I might be missing something obvious, so please let me know if this is common.  There's no UPC on back, and it's the only first party game in the lot that did not have the Club Nintendo paper, which contributes to my suspicion that it's possibly a promo copy or something.  Thank you!

  • Interesting. I'm curious what you find out
  • Hmmm never seen that before. Maybe an Animal Crossing forum has more info. Tried searching, but anytime you use the word sleeve you get a bunch of links about shirts haha
  • Was packed into a bundle with I believe a blue DS. Not very rare imo.
  • Yeah, I've seen this before as well. I'm unfamiliar with the scarcity of it, but it may end up being a tad more desirable simply because of the easily destructible paper sleeve that houses it.
  • The Sesame Street games that came with styluses (styli?) also came in sleeves like that. The little piece that holds the game is very prone to tearing, so be careful mang.
  • Awesome, thank you for the info. For now, this is probably a case of it's worth whatever two people agree on. Unless the cartridge has a different serial code...

It does not. I'm gonna hold on to this packaging for awhile as it's a cool "materials variant"
  • Yea, came bundled with a few DS systems, mine was regular platinum from Best Buy. Cool variant too have around IMO.

Did your DS come as a bundle with an Animal Crossing Wild World label on the box like the bundle here--> http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=29&threadid=146694

I don't know, bought it when I was 13 and returned it shortly after due to a faulty screen, which they replaced with a DS Lite (just launched) which I really disliked that they did.

This was the DS bundle the sleeve was found in--> http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=29&threadid=146694 Do you own this bundle? Do you know if there was also a silver version of this bundle?
  • Yes this is the copy that was packaged with the blue DS. There is nothing different about the cart versus a retail packaged one. I worked for Gamestop when it was being sold and I don't remember there being a silver bundle only the blue ones.
  • It was sod in both colors. I remember it arrived in the blue bundle first and later on Nintendo added a sticker and packed it into the silver bundles to fire sale them. Again don't think they are very rare
