I agree with jared and ben, we aren't that bad off. I mean I have money to buy food, gas, pay my bills, and have a little extra, I eat steak once a month like I always have. I don't see a problem.. Yes gas is expensive and food prices are going up, but I still eat and drive..
Life is good, the economy isn't that bad off. Yes there is a little downturn, because of the mortgage problems.
Well, what you guys fail to realize is that the big corporations failing, etc, takes awhile to trickle down to the "little guy".
There is a lot more to it than the mortgage problems. While gas being more expensive doesn't affect me much, I know that it hurts quite a few people out there, who now get to keep a lot less of their pay.
This is one of the most significant financial turning points of our time. The stuff going on around the world today confirms that this is not isolated to the US. Everybody has a stake in this thing.
EDIT to add: to be fair, though, if you're still employed and able to save money, and you're not losing your shirt in the market, then it is still business as usual for a little while. But I think you're underestimating how much most people have been affected by higher prices.
