Everhart Brother's MidWest Road Trip Excursion (Michigan or Bust)

2-7-14.

So I have been messaging with a pretty big Sega Collector on ebay, and he found out I have two display cases, and he had the Portland Michigan case that was on ebay last year.  I casually say if you ever want to sell it, let me know........

5 hour drive 1-way (FYI the Car Ferry does not run in the Winter)

The Mission

Drive to Sand Lake Michigan to buy the following.

My brother and I left around 6 AM our time, and got home around 8 pm tonight.  Including hitting some Chicago Traffic, a few stops along the way and Dinner at Big Boy (We don't have those by us)

We hit up a local game store.  They had buy 2 get one free on Vintage games (Cardboard Sports CIB were $1.99 each)

We ate at big boy on the way home.

I am on the left. My backup muscle is on the right.

You just want to see this anyhow.

Sega Display Case #3 (I need to buy some pegboard for the back, paint it black, and reinstall the light on top)  The Glass Doors are included as well, and not damaged)

And.

This Walmart ? Topper ?

It appears to be a display for the top of a Walmart Display Case.  The front lights up and there is an additional light that shines down.  Dimensions are 4 feet long, by 2 feet (ish) deep by 7 inches tall.

Total Damage for Display Case, Topper, and Road Rash 3 Manual ($402)

Total Cost at Local Game Store around $65

Total Gas Estimate around $120-$150 (Total Miles  630)

My new Big Boy Bank $9

Used a paid Vacation day for work.

10 hours with my brother (Awesome) (Life is busy and we both have our own families, so it was nice to catch up, etc.)

I will post some updated pictures once I get this one set up, and the other display light.

  • awesome stuff man! always nice to spend quality time with a sibling
  • That light up topper is absolutely SPECTACULAR. I have been waiting and waiting to find some sort of topper that lights up like that for sega. You know from previous PM's I've got 2 sega display cases myself. Hell of a grab there man, that thing is just beautiful. Sega display stuff so rarely pops up on ebay.
  • That is one DOPE Sega cabinet
  • Totally worth the trip. Looks fantastic!
  • I had to repair the case some.

    • Needed the pegboard in the back. Bought a new sheet, cut to fit, painted, installed.

    • Needed a new light.  Whoever messed with it last (not the guy I got it from) really boogered it up.

    • New Shelves and Pegs.

    • Put new lights in the sonic header sign as well, it looks much better with new lights in it.
