Finally got a nice Ebay score

When I finally recieved a Paypal refund, I went on Ebay looking for something cheap to blow my loot on. Then I found a Gameboy Pocket, in what looks to be decent shape, listed as 'parts only'. But for $4? I couldn't resist, so after shipping, I payed around $7 for the thing. Just got it today, and I'm suprised at how nice it is. The screen overlay-thingy has absolutely no scratches to it, battery cover's there, battery contacts clean, the only visible flaws I can see is a beat-up sticker and a name (I presume) written in pen above the cartridge slot. Haven't tested it yet (darn AAA batteries...), so I hope it still works. Hoping for the best! 



Edit: Threw some batteries in, it works! Apparently the previous owner didn't know the Contrast dial existed, so it just displayed a blank screen. And to think a slight turn would've made it work...ha!

    Interesting. I picked up two of these recently, about a week apart, two different places for $5 each. I put them side by side and I noticed that the screen overlays are different.



    One is chrome backed like yours, the other looks like the other gameboy pockets, plain gray, not chrome. I was wondering which one had the screen overlay replaced, and I was leaning toward the chrome one as it doesn't match my other pockets. Any ideas?

    Before I bought this, I thought all GBPs had plain grey overlays. I put a little research into it, and it seems early silver/platinum GBPs had a chrome-esque overlay. I don't know if any of the other ones did or not, but that's all I know

    Good to know, so I may have an early and a late model.

    It's a launch system or near that. The early run of these had the gray border and no little red power light so you'd know when your battery was going to eat it. I had one of them right around the day it came out as the screen really sold me on it as I never much liked the blur the pea green original did in side scrolling games.
