Nightmare on Elm Street series

So soon im going to be doing encodes on all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, and will be posting them here.
Heres the query, all movies up to New Nightmare are under 100 mins which means they are fine for keeping original soundtrack (2ch AC3) in a 1 CD format. But New Nightmare is almost 2 hours long, which means no matter what a 1 CD rip of the movie will look like garbage unless I seriously downsample the audio HARD. Also, unlike the F13 series I put up, these movies had all there soundtracks remastered with a new Dolby 5.1 mix, which could be kept in a 2 CD encode.

So the question, should I do 1 CD encodes or 2 CD encodes? No matter what I will have to do a 2 CD for New Nightmare, but should I do th rest in 1 CD format or 2 CD (700MB vs 1400MB)? I plan on sharing with others, but Im kinda OCD with enocdes. Id like to do 1 CD but the fact that New Nightmare has to be 2 CD bugs me alittle, but it bugs me alittle that the rest would be 2 CD without significant gain in quality, aside from including Dolby 5.1.

So what you think guys?

    Got the same set from my bro for Christmas a few years back! I love them all except 5, that one sucks big time.

    Hey Erik, wanna do me a favor and RS or MU the vob files of the extra 3D scene of the 6th movie? The copy I have the extras were ripped out to make the movie fit on a DVD5



    It would be after the other VTS files that are around 1GB big.



    Asking cause I would like to make a custom Freddys Dead one with and one without the 3D scene

    Well I would prefer the 700mb rips, and then new nightmare 1400mb.. and if at all possible, save me a 1400mb rip before you split it image. I put mine on dvds anyway.

    I just loaded the 1st NOES and New Nightmare to get a feel for what I can get out of these movies. Like I said before, all of the other movies besides New Nightmare will have a very acceptable bitrate (approx 900) and have original sound, but when I loaded New Nightmare, if I kept it a 1 CD rip with original sound, the video would be at a 700 bitrate, which is unacceptable, even transcoding the audio and doing mp3 would only result in a video bitrate of 750 which is still quite low, not to mention the resolution would be low as well. This is going to HAVE to be a 2 CD rip. Now the question is do I make the others acceptable 1 CD rips or stunning 2 CD rips (maybe even with 2 audio tracks, 5.1 and 2.0?)



    Chime in and let me know, I plan on starting these on or by Friday

    dun dun dun.. well im just happy that NNM stayed big and didnt get crudded up. Personally i would prefer the 700mb 5.1 rips for the rest, but i sure wouldnt mind having both 2.0 and 5.1 with super quality.. but then you have to put them in a container dont you? what container would you put them in?

    Well first if I did the 1 CD rips for the first 6, it would be with the original audio not the newly mixed 5.1 track. If I did them in 2 CD format I could mux them with 2 tracks (original and 5.1) and keep them in an AVI container, so when you load them up on your computer, in the media player (vlc, MPC, ect) you just choose what track you want in the menu, on a standalone you could just hit the audio button to change which track you want to hear

    so you can see what New Nightmare would look like in a 1 CD rip and by trying to increase the video quality as much I could, I transcoded the audio to MP3.....as you can see, I wasnt happy with the results, thus a 2 CD is required

    the picture is alright, its just a hair fuzzy, but i dont like the sound..hope the 2 cd version is released soon image BTW I always thought Nancy was fing hot.

    Just a FYI



    Im starting the encodes now, since Im doing this crap on my lappy est. about 2 encodes a day

    Also I decided to opt for 2 CD rips of the collection to keep them all the same, and Ill be muxing BOTH audio tracks (5.1 AC3 and 2.0 AC3) on all the movies. So you can choose which to listen to depending on your setup.

    So expect them to be done by Monday, and uploaded (hopefully) by Tuesday
