Got a text from a good friend saying that his future father in law was cleaning out his storage and had about 100 atari games w/ boxes. He wanted $200 for the lot. Usually I pass on atari stuff but its been a few months since I've found anything "in the wild". The guy said they were in really good shape so I gambled and paid the $200 sight unseen.

    turns out that most of the games are excellent to mint, with 6 sealed games and at least half the boxes have never been opened. No shrink wrap for whatever rreason but you can tell they've never been opened. I was thrilled with the games and then started pulling out the loose stuff from the box and it was Atari proto city. The collection came from a friend of the father in law's that passed away a few years ago. He must have worked for Atari or one of the testing labs. I'm meeting with the father in law on Monday to see if theres anything else and to find out some history. Damn that was fun.  17 protos/samples total including a really cool Journey/escape cart with a box stamped "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE" and paperwork.

    Also 200$ for 100 boxed Atari games isn't really a gamble. Especially when they're in nice shape cause those boxes get screwed up very easily.

    That guy probably worked at Activision. Just a guess

    Very nice haul. Almost all Activision games. They made most of the best games on the Atari 2600 in my opinion.

    Thanks all! It sure seems like this guy worked for activision back in the early 80's. I'm excited to follow up on Monday and maybe find/rescue some old activision swag.

    A few of the protos probably will be for sale soon. I'll let you know. I have 2 Seaquest protos so I'd def sell one of those.

    Yeah, that's the best Atari find I have seen since the dude who stumbled across the Lord of the Rings and Incredible Hulk boxes at a flea market for like 2 bucks if I recall.
