Pawn Shop Went out of Business

I was frequenting this particular pawn shop for a while as I scooped out a Legend of Dragoon CIB for €3 and I picked up a few other €5-€10 PS1 games for €1,50 each. They were a little too high for me to comfortably buy anything else other than Playstation. They were charging the going rate or higher on a lot of games. For example MegaMan 2 for the NES PAL they had a sticker on that game saying €40 online but in the shop €30, sorry but the game is €20 give or take. I said this store to my girlfriend multiple times, they will go out of business, give them 1 year and watch. Well, it was not even a year, they were out of business for the past month and a half. Finally they had a going out of business sale as another pawn shop bought out their store.

Well here is what I got all for €24.

There is one other pawn shop in the area that deserves to be out of business. He had pokemon games and I asked what the price is one time and he said those are really special games, €25 for you, they are €8-€12 games, Ahhh, he even had a battletoads Loose for 80 euro

  • nice find and score ....
  • Pawnshops can be the place to get good deals. Afew years ago I was at one and the new manager was phasing out anything older than current Gen. I picked up about 20 PS2's 2 NES's sone N64's and several other systems, plus games for many systems all for $150. The best thing is that there were 2 dual shock 3 controllers and 6 six-axis's in the bottom of the box, when i tried to take them back he said that they were over stocked on them so he threw them in... sold the six-axis's for $40 apiece on ebay and more than paid off my investment... overall I pocketed about $700 and added a ton to my collection...

moral of the story... hit a Pawn at the right time and you can do well.

I think thats the moral of everything everywhere.

Here's a random story: Where I live a previous Mayor thought them evil and did everything in his power to have all pawn shops shut down or go out of business from passing laws to having the police "visit" them often. Its been over a decade so we have a couple gold pawn shops but thats it.

I visit some whenever I am out of town and I've yet to get anything but they always appear to have potential. Whereas thrift stores get junk and occasionally treasure, pawn shops at least get things of value.
  • My experience with pawn shops at the moment is small but so far I've only ran into jacked up prices. One even lied to me. Claiming they did not sell old games, then I go home and within 20 minutes of looking online they just posted an ad selling old games.
