A friend told me that the camera flash probably erased the information. Is that true? Does that mean this is not worth what it should have been?

No, the flash wouldn't have any real impact.
If the chips are exposed to UV light for a long period of time, the data would potentially be erased. Due to the nature of the VGA game case (UV resistant), I wouldn't imagine it would be an issue. The seller should have dumped the cart and covered the EPROMs before slabbing the game IMO, but it's not the end of the world.
The price point seems fair given the recent sales of prototypes and the desirability of the title. It's been listed for awhile though, so it might be due for a price drop.
