Is it possible to replace the rom on a gameboy cart?
Hey everyone.
I have 2 copies of my favorite Pokemon game ever, Pokemon Yellow! 1 is minty in its box, 1 is decent shape and what I use to play, and 1 Is in rough shape, and dosen't work (thats how I purchased it, thinking it may have a better label, it did not.
So anyway. The Everdrive Game Boy is coming out, and I wanted to prep a cart shell for it. So since the 3rd Pokemon yellow cart didn't work (it would get the NINTENDO logo but thats it, or it be a garbled version of that label) I figured yellow would be a cool cart color! So I made a label, peeled off the bad looking Pokemon yellow label, and it looks nice ^-^
Now what I have left is the dead Pokemon Yellow PCB. well... I did something stupid. I took a 30Watt Iron and reflowed all the solder joints on the chips and damnit... I got it working, but the shell is claimed by another cart now, and besides the labels gone now. So now, I'm curious, is it possible to replace the rom (can't see why not) with a flash chip/eprom that can fit inside a cart shell? I'd like to make a translated Pokemon Green cart. If not possible for some reason, any one interested in just a PCB for Yellow?
