Blue NES Circuit Board

Was doing some cleaning on a recently purchased WWF Wrestlemania for NES and found a blue circuit board inside. I checked another copy and it was green just like all the rest I've ever come across.

Has as anyone ever seen or heard of a blue board before?

  • pretty sure I've had one the same way. don't see official nintendo boards like that often.
  • Thx for the quick feedback
  • Learn something new everyday...never seen or heard of a blue board...cool, thanks for sharing.
  • Came across another tonight again. Not quite as blue, more of a blue-green from a Blades of Steel.

    When it rains it pours...
  • ^ Post a pic!

Also, I believe this one is blue because Acclame/LJN manufactured their own licensed carts at some point along with Hi-Tech and another US company (Activision I believe or something like that) so it may be blue because they made their own blue board. However, this look like a Nintendo board so the green CBs must have been in short supply so they had to resort using blue ones. Does it say "Manufactured by Acclaim" or something like that on the back, under the "Do not clean with alcohol" warnings?

Also, it seems to be kind of like Active Enterprises' carts of Action 52. The proto's PCB is blue, the first run's is black and the final run's is green.
  • Ahhh ok good thing I didnt post about this before I searched for it.

I got a Marble Madness ANROM licensed NES BLUE board too. It has the original seal of approval, black and white.

    EDIT:  Heres a pic
  • I remember seeing a blue Solstice board a few years back as well. One of the unsolved NES mysteries as far as I know. However, I vaguely recall the blue Solstice board I saw was a part of the NWC in some way. So far I think about 4 NES games are known to have at least 1 blue board variant:

    Marble Madness

    Wrestlemania

    Jackal

    Solstice (?)
  • Except for Jackal they all use ANROM. Thats gotta be it. Jackal was prob a Konami board.
  • Very nice, thanks for sharing makes we wanna open my carts up and see if I have any.
