  • For SNES remove Thunderforce III, and I'm not sure if/why the Turrican games are on there. I guess the 2nd one does have an Axelay-ish level, but if we're including it for that reason you can also include The Rockateer, James Bond Jr. Metal Morph, etc.
  • Agreed, the Turrican games are not shmups.

    For SNES, add the following:

    BlaZeon

    Biometal

    Phalanx

D-Force (aka Dimension Force in Japan)

Space Megaforce (aka Super Aleste in Japan)

Firepower 2000 (aka Super SWIV in Japan)

Super Nova (aka Darius Force in Japan)

    Strike Gunner STG

Imperium (aka Kidou Soukou Dion in Japan, several changes to this version)

    Also...

Recca should be under Famicom, not NES.

    Remove Einhander for PS2.
  • Add Blast Wind to Saturn!
  • I like captain skyhawk myself. The large sprites and clean graphics go really well together. I didn't see Star fox in your list. Do you consider it another genre? It is a bit slower than the other games tho. It is one of my favorite shooters.
  • I'd recommend putting a caveat on the PS1 version of In the Hunt, which has much less slowdown and much more room to maneuver. It's more like the arcade game. You have that the Saturn version has a lot of slowdown, but it also has much less vertical scrolling and a far smaller screen area.
  • HA the last time I posted on this was 2 years ago, on my birthday.

  • I'll share some C64 love, since I have my 3rd system up and working again.  While people think of it as a "computer", remember all these games can be played on a TV with a genesis pad. I don't recommend using one out of the box though, as the sega pads can damage a c64

    ---

    Enforcer - Fullmetal Megablaster

Idea, Design, Code & Graphics: Manfred Trenz. You know, Great Giana Sisters, Turrican, Rendering Ranger guy.

Video looks to have some issues because of being 30 fps video.

    Armalyte

An R-type-ish game, I've not played it personally yet.  I need to try it this weekend with the flash drive

    Catalypse

Check out the animation on some of the foes.  Reminds me of Armalyte

    Delta

Some foe patterns I've never seen in other games

    IO: Into Oblivion

Moar shootie stuff.  Nothing too special

  • How the hell did I NOT SEE THIS till now?!

    Eh lurv ewes guise!

    *pew pew pew*
  • Is this list supposed to comprehensive or just a choice selection?

    More PS1 shooters:

    Import / Outside USA:

    -Harmful Park

    -Frenzy!

    -Gaia Seed

    USA and elsewhere too:

    -Shooter: Starfighter Sanvein

    -Starblade Alpha

  • OP still holds true IMO.
  • Just beat G Darius the other day on Taito Legends 2, was sweet! I didn't see that one on your list, not sure if you're counting collections, but I think G Darius was also for PS1
  • Maybe one day the OP will get updated, till then I'll make my own personal one.
  • Don't forget Action 52, its lousy with shooters...
