NESDev Compo Judging

I will have the website updated in the near future, for the time being I might as well release the Category 2 entries for judging.

The way this works, is simply rank the entries as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The judging will run from April 7th to April 28th.

No editing of posts is allowed (you will be disqualified from the voting).  You may  make your decision on any criteria you wish.  If you do not wish to vote publicly, you can send me your vote via PM.

  • Tried them all out on my Everdrive. I enjoyed the NES Theremin one the most. With some polishing it'd be kinda cool. Also, Ship it with a SNES-mouse adapter, updated graphics/features/etc. and I'd be sold . I feel like I've used a similar program before on SFX, and the other one I couldn't get into, but was the most polished I thought.

    1st - NES Theremin

    2nd - PCB Artist

    3rd - SFX
  • 1st: SFX tool.

    2nd: PCB Artist.

    3rd: Theremin.
  • 1.PCB Artist - I never thought I'd draw obscene symbols on a PCB on an NES

2.Theremin - Reminds me of the 3DS sound app

3.SFX tool - Reminds me of what I'm trying to do on Beat'em and Eat 'em (Sound programming). The problem is that I suck at it and therefore I only appreciated this very mildly
  • Bump... If anyone else has given these a try, please put in your votes!
  • Very neat games. It's really hard to compare them as they are all different and do completely different things. I like the Theremin as it kind a gives one an idea of what stuff should sound like. I'll probably use it next time I am stuck with shitty effects. I'm sure that the SFX tool is awesome as well, I am just to impatient right now to really get into how it works. PCB Artist is a neat game. The controls are a bit confusing. But I like it as well. Good job everyone!!
  • My category 2 votes:

    1st - SFX tool

    2nd - PCB Artist

    3rd - Theremin

Looking forward to seeing the Category 1 entries.

    Congrats to everyone who entered!
  • Gotta give it up for PCB Artist! When I tried the first board, I was a bit confused, but then saw what the challenge is on the next level. Very cool game, so that gets 1st. I'll put Theremin in 2nd, because that is just neat as all get out. Man does that get high-pitched haha Then last but not least, SFX Tool. Seems like it can be pretty helpful. I might have to do a bit more messing around with this one.

But yeah, PCB Artist is really cool and I think it has a lot of potential. Really looking forward to seeing that expanded with the layers and what-have-ya!
  • I don't think a lot of people realize that PCB Artist is actually a game. It gets pretty challenging.
  • 1. PCB Artist - Super cool

    2. Theremin - Playing with this was fun!

    3. SFX - My brain doesn't comprehend the complexity of this.
