secret of mana 2 tsop help

Hello, I'm having a little trouble with a secret of mana 2 donor cart.  This is my first time using nhl96 as the donor.  The board seems to be identical to the sfc pcb except the sram.  They are both hirom games, although nhl96 is 16Mbit while SD3 is 32.  I didn't think this would be a problem but it won't boot.  The rom is correct, the chip identifies, burns, and verifies.  I've made two before using the sfc carts, just curious if anyone may have any ideas of what may be wrong, something i may have overlooked or missed.

  • NHL 96 is fine as a donor, I use it all the time for HiRom 32bit games. How does your soldering look on the board? Can you post pictures?
  • i think that may be the problem. Just got sailor moon rpg another story to work after it didn't :/ it was the soldering points. I'll take some pics and upload.
  • ok, sorry for wasting your time. cleaned the hell out of the pins and went over a solder point or two. Good TAAAANKS
  • The soldering looks fine from here. Do you trim your legs after soldering the pin headers to the board? I found that clipping the legs after attaching it can cause issues at the soldering points and I found a lot of my games to not work even after testing the tsop with a test cart. I clip my headers before attaching it to avoid this now.
  • That's a good point, I have had the same trouble with clipping before, I try and avoid it now if i can remember. Thanks
