New here, just starting to build out a collection!

If you're like me, you had no idea what RARE things you owned when you were a kid.  I *gave away* a copy of Final Fight Guy once upon a time, and sold a boxed, retail Jack Bros. with my Virtual Boy and a few other games for about $40.  There's my painful ice breaker.

Hi there, my name's Garrett.  I've used the name NuAngel on the internet for over 15 years.  I'll be turning 30 later this year, and back in high school I sold off allllllllll of my console games (except my original NES and a few games).  I wanted to pay for a fancy prom night.  If I could go back in time I'd change it all.

These days I'm mostly rebuilding the collection I had when I was younger.  I was the Nintendo Fanboy in my home town.  I never got in to Sega or PlayStation, but the time CD consoles came around, I ended up in PC gaming.  Now that I do have a lot of my old collection built back up (although not complete), I have started grabbing a few other titles like Dreamcast and Genesis and PlayStation games.

I'm updating my generic collection here on the website (using bulk import first, will refine and add other consoles later), but if you want to see my complete collection, I posted it over at http://gamelist.NuAngel.net.  I have a couple of rare titles, but I mostly just collect games I actually intend to play.

Some "personal" background: I'm a Penn State graduate with a degree in English.  I worked in the IT field during college and stuck with it after graduation, moved up through help desk and consultant positions, to management, and am currently a Director of IT and Security for a rural healthcare clinic.

Looking forward to making friends, discussing all things classic gaming, and eventually making some trades!

  • Hi Welcome Garrett, I've just turned 30 and sold all my gaming stuff when young, but enjoying building it up again.

If my kids ever mention selling their consoles, trading anything, or opening anything that is sealed it'll be the shed for them.
  • Haha, yeah, you should make sure they never do something stupid like I did.

SNES + 25 games, N64 + 16 games, Game Boy, Virtual Boy... all sold in ONE eBay lot for about $250. Like I said, Virtual Boy included Jack Bros - the Super NES included Final Fight 3 (and I might've even had Final Fight Guy back in my collection by then?)... just... wow. I expected the auction to close higher, but it just never happened. Even if it WOULD HAVE, I would *still* regret selling all of that stuff back in 2001. I look back and I can't believe the mistake I made.
  • Welcome

  • Welcome to Nintendoage Garrett!

Yes many of us gave away/sold or even (gasp!) threw away our old gaming items long ago - only to search for them again present day.

Fortunately, you've found this great site where you can share more stories from the past, read about others, learn about new games and even get help completing your quest for obtaining the rest of the games you are searching for.

    Enjoy your stay on NA!
