Greetings
Hi, I'm thirty four, and I recently purchased an NES top loader and am beginning to build a small NES library of essentials to start with. I had an NES back in the 80's, but it belonged to my older brother and he had long since sold it all off, games and everything. Thanks to a large net presence of retro fans wanting to keep the past alive, I had been inspired to revisit that era of gaming and of course it's been a blast so far. I also own: SNES, N64, PS2, XBOX360, Gameboy, DS, Gamecube, and a fairly good collection of old PC games - being by far the biggest DOOM fan out of everything, I have never stopped playing Doom1+2 thanks to source ports and endless user made level packs and new content, but that's another story.
The reason why I want to dedicate myself to the NES now is that I feel that era was so fleeting for me. My family got the console probably around '87, when I was seven, but a couple of years later my attention was stolen from our Amiga 500, and then shortly after we got the SNES. I never completely stopped playing the SNES throughout the years, much like my favorite PC games, so going back to the 8bit era is really opening up all that I took for granted for those many years, and the rediscovery has been fantastic. So far I've been playing Zelda 1, Megaman 2, Ducktales, Mario Bros, TMNT 2, and a few others - Contra and Lifeforce are on the way!
Thanks for reading and happy retro-gaming.
