  • Unfortunately, I only have the PAL version with manual. The funny thing about the manual is that I had it for a long time prior to getting the cart, and didn't know what it was

  • I have a cart only NTSC version. I would love to get it complete, but I doubt that will ever happen cause I want pay 900 bucks for a box and 600 for a manual, just to crazy even for me.

Cart only copies pop up every once in a while. They're rare, but not unspeakably rare. Just be patient. The only question is if you're willing and able to dish out $1000 for one when it pops up.
  • I have the cart. I will EVENTUALLY get the box. Not for a while, though.
  • i have a mint cart only NTSC copy, would love to get it CIB some day :-)

I did the same thing, two SE's cart-only for 25 SEK ($3.70) each or maybe it was 50 ($7.40) SEK each. However they were not NTSC but PAL (SCN).image
  • LOL, I bet you weren't complaining!
  • Actually that was several years ago, and I remember that I browsed through the games in that thrift store as usual and found nothing, I noticed them, but left them there. Since they were PAL I didn't really bother (like I'm ever gonna find a NTSC SE in Swedenimage). I got home and logged onto NESworld or whatever forum it could've been and conviniently enough saw a thread about Stadium Events. I read through it and got back to the store the next day. I've found several hard-to-find SCN-titles at that store throughout the years, as well as a Little Samson prototype. Nowadays the shopkeeper keeps gaming stuff that might be interesting to me away in his storage so that I can have a chance of buying it before he puts up for sale in the store.

One of the SE's is up for auction now at tradera.com btw, interesting to see what profit I'll make from it.

That's 11 people on THESE boards. I'm sure there are several hundred copies of this game that exist. In fact, I bet somewhere between 1000-2000 copies exist.
  • ^ That's like almost the total print run; I highly doubt that many survived, but yeah, it's a total guessing game no matter how you look at it. My personal random guess is that anywhere from 100 to 300 of the carts have survived.
  • Maybe. I'd say there are more than 300 carts out there, but that's just me. You're right, it is a total guessing game. image

On second thought, I don't think there are more than 1000 out there, since I forgot that it was pulled from shelves. But I still think more than 300 are out there. image
  • I would say 300 isn't that bad of a guess. I think only about 100 or so have been found by collectors and the rest are in peoples attics or storage. Or everyones dream some NOS sealed ones image

I totally agree with the number out there being higher than people think... how many people actually threw $50+ video games in the trash - very few I'd bet. I'd say almost every copy that made it to the stores still exists. What that number is, who knows. But I'd say its 1000 or more. If you ask joe blow on the street he doesn't know what the hell SE is... there are probably many people out there with an SE in the attic or whatever. I just don't buy them being "destroyed" by average people who paid good money for them. The recalled copies may well have been destroyed, but the ones that leaked out - no way. The game has to get a lot more publicity as being valuable before we see more coming out of the woodwork. Its 2007 and they're still finding the odd 'previously unknown' copy of Action Comics 1 from 1938, which is worth 100k in basically any unrestored condition. If we're still finding incredibly rare 1938 comics that have survived SEVENTY YEARS of mothers, WW2 paper drives, dealer searches, and press for being the valuable comic around, I'd say we'll still be finding the odd previously unknown copy of SE for decades to come, at least.

Similarly, I'd say there are 1000 myriads out there too, or close to it, based on the numbering of the ones found to date.

1000 copies is still next to nothing, anyway.
  • 12 I got a copy of Stadium events also
  • I might agree some but there is a big difference between the people of the prior generations and the last few decades. Today people just dont hang on to stuff its a throw away society. the only way anyone could know how many copies were sold would be thru bandai and maybe they dont even know. Like you were saying people dont know that stadium events is rare but back in the day how many people passed on sports games. Stadium events when it was released probally wasnt a big time release where people were camping out to get a copy. it is totally possible that fewer than 50 copies sold. Heres my thinking on the subject

If you use the rumor ive heard that stadium events was only released in new york and only at woolworths and was on the shelf less than a month.

how many people shop at woolworths..not a big time chain of stores like walmart, kmart

how many people actually went to woolworths looking for nes games.

how many people could afford to shell out the money for the game and the pad..dont think a lot of people would of wanted the game without the pad.

and if it was only at woolworths only people that shopped there would of even known about the game.

unless someone at bandia can shed some light it will be a guessing game. Im still convinced less than 150 copies ever made it into buyers hands. yes there could be some in attics but with the internet ebay tv etc I just dont see to many being stored away.

It is very possible the ones sent to be destroyed are sitting in limbo somewhere or they could be long gone. Im on ebay a lot but not all the time and i see a lot more pepesi invaders show up on ebay than stadium events...I think the few that show up get passed around and are not new copies that have surfaced but thats all my opinion
