DS Not For Resale **RARES**
I know it's a niche collection but a few serious collectors on this site. Want to put together a list of the top 10 or 20 DS carts. Would like to do it as rarest 1 and down. Even narrowing it down to 10 or 20 rarest no order would work. Think it would be interesting to see what other collector come up with. Pics are welcome as well.

Pokemon Blue and Mario/Sonic Olympics should be top 20, right?
I don't collect NFRs, this was just a fluke that I have this one. Had a guy on another forum offer me up to $70 for it for his DS NFRS Collection, since it was one of seven he was missing. He wasn't really sure what it was worth, though.
I don't collect them yet but maybe I will now. Coincidentally I have two of the top six inbound!
Top 20 are in no order just listed. If you have any of those you are off to a good start.

The casualness with which you made this comment is mind-boggling I'm very curious as to how you managed to score two of the rarest while not even collecting this set, haha.

Haha, spoiler alert, I may or may not be posting a pretty insane NFR haul within the next week DS stuff was just the tip of the iceberg!
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - Darkrai Distribution Cart
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - Deoxys Distribution Cart
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - Dragonite Distribution Cart
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - Manaphy Distribution Cart
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - Regigigas and Shaymin Distribution Cart
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum - Pikachu Colored Pichu and Jirachi Distribution Cart
Pokemon Black/White - Secret Egg Distribution Cart
Pokemon Black/White - Zoroark Distribution Cart
Pokemon Platinum - Secret Key Distribution Cart
Now you add in these 10 Pokemon Distributions it squares up the top 20... There are a few other carts that are not mentioned yet that could easily knock some off the list.
What's rarer--Brain Age GDC or Twilight Princess? Fun question since both are event exclusives, right?

What about Guitar Hero On Tour? That's one I never got, and I only ever see Decades and Modern Hits show up. Besides that, everything I would have said has been mentioned already as far as I know. Glad to see Brain Age GDC get some love. That one seems overlooked, even though it's not only a first party title but also an event exclusive made in what I assume was extremely small quantity.

Think titles like Ninja Gaiden, Metroid Prime Hunters, or Final Fantasy would be a few worth more mentioning. As for Brain Age vs TP hands down TP because of content.
As far as value, I know the TP crushes Brain Age, but I'm just wondering about pure rarity. Would something made for E3 have more copies than something made for a keynote speech at GDC...

I may just not remember seeing it, but I seem to have had trouble finding the regular On Tour one. I'll have to check and see if I'm just confused.

The fact that TP is an actual trailer for a game makes it unique. Also being it has a custom designed case and orginal cover art. Being a more desirable series with a very very large fan base makes each copy that was released harder to come by. Still GDC copies are rear. Would really need a total of known copies made and known copies in collectors hands to determine it though.
Naruto, Golden Sun, Guitar Hero: On Tour (for me, still never seen one), Transformers, all four DQ IX Maps, Nintendo Zone, Brain Age, Twilight Princess, Pokemon Distros.
Other notables include: The Version 2's for Yoshi's, Nintendogs Dalmatians, Children of Mana. The other rear label Nintendo ones have all been pretty easy snags over the years.
Diamond Trust was a full release. Nothing on it says Not for Resale. They just did the KS and self published it.

I can't see Guitar Hero making the top 10. Even the top 20 is hard to bump some of those other titles out.

Oh I don't disagree, but I've seen more Mario & Sonic at Olympics and even Transformers in open eBay auctions than I have the first Guitar Hero: On Tour.

Those are not as rare as they are expensive. There are a couple floating around, and if you want rare I don't know if that would make it on here.

It has only been one seller who made a decent little Pokemon Distrobution score that has had them listed. Would say these are more inexpensive then ever because of the recent flood. The past year has had multiple large nfrs lots pop up and a mass sell off which made many titles more available then ever. This title is still a rare find and can't be over looked because of it's recent turn up.

Since I'm new to NFR collecting I didn't really know about this new turnup. But I have been doing this for about a year to a year and a half, and in that time I've always seen them, just for out of my $ range.

Do you think the fact that the other Guitar Hero titles being worth so little prevent some from being listed?

Well I've never heard or seen this before, but now I guess I know how they do the nintendo zone feature. There should be a list somewhere of where the nintendo zones are so we can probably tell exactly how many there are, specificically Best Buy ones. I'm going to try to find it......

EDIT: There may be more out there than I thought...

29,000 must be the world wide number. Wonder if that number reflects wifi locations or Nintendo Zone locations?

I beleive it reflects nintendo zones, not Wifi zones, after going back to the site. But at the same time I do agree it is worldwide, so probably most of these are not in English, and/or they are not specific Best Buy ones.
So maybe if we put it on the list and call it "nintendo zone carts" we wouldn't really mean every cart, becuase these carts should have their own rarity list of their own, and that list would have specific carts on it. (Say 1. McDonalds cart, 2. Best buy cart, etc.)
(What I was trying to say above is that we should group these carts together for one spot on the list)
IDK how far up the list these carts would be, but looking at all the locations, this might go either way. Since most carts are still in use, it would be hard to get one, but there are so many of them they might not be hard to get. Persinally I've never seen one for sale.
