Gameboy games list

does anyone have a complete list of the US titles? is anyone working on one w/ rarity guide?

I tried nintendos page, but for some reason it only listed about 15 original gameboy games

***added a poll***

  • I think there's one in progress here, but I've always just used the gold old DP list.
  • It's done really, I just need to post it
  • Please do! I've got one as well, but I'd bet yours is more accurate.
  • if you have a japanese game list too you'd be my hero
  • I've got complete PAL lists for all Nintendo Systems (except Wii), that includes GB/GBC/GBA. They aren't online anywhere yet (except SNES) but will be.
  • I don't have JP, North American only. yeah for Hydrox on the PAL list, some nice exclusives over there.

Like Trip World which I still don't own image
  • does anyone know off hand how many US release Gameboy games there are?

i'm working on a big excel workbook right now, and i'm sure i'm missing some games

there's about 500 in it right now
  • By the way, does a similar list exists for N64 ?

digital press lists 521, not sure how up 2 date editing in that section is though

  • DP also lists Sachen's which I don't along with some other unreleased or PAL stuff. I have 510 ,might have a 511th.
  • i'm at 501,

no wisdom tree or sachen titles because i'm not sure if they're official releases

*****actually 500 on the dot, is Monster Max a US release?

ahh gameboy. Well I've had Wisdom Tree loose carts traded in to my store. I'd say those should count.

    they're not official releases though

I can add a pirate / unofficial tab to the book

  • I count Wisdom tree, as they were distributed quite widely through the US durring the system's lifespan. Monster Max is a PAL release and Sachen are pirates.

Well I selected GB->US Games from their database. This usually does NOT include any PAL games or unlicensed games.
  • i'm at 503 for just US releases, not including the wisdom tree or sachen games

i'm putting those in different sections

Hmm so you don't count Tegen for NES?

    i'm guessing you meant tengen?

i'm not real worried about NES games, those have been cataloged all over hell and back, i'm trying to make a US Official release list for Gameboy games and branching it out once I get the rest of the information to Japanese, Pirate, Unofficial, etc.

That is fine but you should go with the standard that has been set on the NES. If a game would count on the NES system it should count on the Gameboy. There is some debate on some NES games but I think just about everyone includes the Wisdom Tree titles and the unlicenced Tengen games.

  • if I were to go that route, i'd have to count the sachen games in also, as some lists include the panesians, other unlicensed games and multiple variants, which with gameboy games, would be damn near impossible to fill without a crew of people working together from all over the world

i'm not against it, as there are only like 5 WT gameboy games, time to make a poll and get a census from this place

  • Panesians were atleast original games, Sachen games are usually hacks or pirates of other people's intellectual property. That's where I draw the line. I do think Sachen may have had some original games, but based on their pirating and shady buisness, I list them as pirates
  • I need a break from my computer after this one, i've been working on and off since the 19th on a excel workbook for gameboy games,  and on and off for a Long time on regular lists in word or notepad

i've got thumbnails of every box except million sellers, re-releases, wisdom tree games, and all foreign games

here's a sneak peak of some of the US stuff:

hopefully i'll have them all loaded into the work book before xmas....

    image

***added the box covers and info for the wisdom tree games

  • ok, all box art for US releases (except for re-releases and million sellers), and wisdom tree box art added

time to take a break unless I find a complete list of japanese games
  • I would personally just like to see official releases on this list, as I don't go out of my way to find the unlisenced stuff.
  • ^ why dont you just have unlisenced stuff like in RED or some other colour so you could see that its no an official release. I think thats the best way to do a Master List. So that people could just be like oh thats not an official relase then just skip it, but then know about it. Or just have a pull down option to sort it? if tahts not to hard.
  • my workbook so far has seperate work sheets for US, US extras (re-releases, million sellers, etc.), Japan, PAL, Pirate and Wisdom Tree

its easier just keeping it all seperated
  • I think most collectors care more about where the item was issued than if it was licensed. Some collectors question Sachen games by saying there is little or not proof they were sold in the US during the systems lifetime.

So I would include all unlicened titles but perhaps not the Sachen gameboy ones. I don't think there are any reported cases of a Sachen Gboy game being sold in the USA during the heyday of the Gameboy.

This is pretty much what my list is, luckily there's only 5 unliscensed(wisdom Tree) Games
  • I would add the wisdom tree not the sachen though
