sega cdx mint CIB
in Price Check
Saw an ebay auctiont that completed recently at over $800, and it wasn't even mint.
Curious how much this should be sold for. A friend recently got it as a trade in at his game store.

It's a store in a podunk town too. Guy just brought it in apparently, said it had been stored in his closet for years. Quite an unlikely event for sure.
What kills me about that is he's probably like, dude, can I trade this in as a pre-order for the upcoming Madden game! Boy I love football!
As much as I love football, ugh .. just ugh.

Yeah, I'd love/hate to know what he got in return for it.
I managed a game store for several years and I've seen some very desperate people take small fractions of what their games are really worth without a thought. In some cases I've even told them they can get much more for their games if they sell them on eBay, or whatever.
Just a couple examples; we used to give a flat rate of $2 for any NES cartridge, loose, CIB, or even factory new.
I was giving out $2 in store credit for games like Dragon Warrior 4 (still in the cellophane), Final Fantasy I CIB.
I gave a guy $8 for his mint, boxed Earthbound (this was '99), which I quickly bought up with my 30% discount.

That $800 is a fluke and doubtful it was paid for. CIB excellent condition typically is in the $400 range. Can go higher if someone really wants one. I had on on ebay not even a year ago legit brand new perfect condition not a ding/scracth on it. Listed it @ $700 and it sat for 3 weeks without a bite. Sold it privately on NA for $725 shipped I think, again, that was new. You could probably slap $500 price tag on that and it would sell eventually, its in really nice condition.
I find it hard to believe it was a fluke, it hasn't been re-listed. Were you selling via the Global Shipping Program?

Yep and mine was dead mint also. Sold it to rarebucky here on NA and he evev had a hard time paying that much for it. This is one of those items that just cause its rare dlesnt put it through the roof. Sega in general just isnt as collected as Nintendo. And ok when I say it was a fluke, maybe not, maybe there were zero others on ebay in that condition at the time and 2 people really wanted it and were bidding against each other. I dont know, allim saying is I would stake a decent sum of $ on a bet that if one in the same conditiin as yours was listed right now it wouldnt hit $800.

I have a 100% CDX I'm about to list on eBay. I think that'd be a little bit more fair....

List her up and post the link so I can watch :-p
The difference between CIB/mint and CIB/VG can be hundreds when it comes to rare game consoles.
I personally wouldn't pay more than $500, but that doesn't means others won't. Who know...
