Stickers on cover art

How do you get them off? Just heat them up with a blow dryer? Does that work with most stickers or just some like Gamestop ones?

I have some games that have Gamestop stickers and others that have pawn shop stickers. Normally the pawn shop ones are easy to take off...but not if they stick them on the cover art.

Also why the hell do they do that? Yeah I want to forever look at your stupid stores stickers on my lovely game art...

  • i agree about the stickers on the game art. what game are you trying to remove the stickers from nes snes n64? if its nes its easy to remove the sticker with de solv it and picking it slowly. with snes (not all snes) and n64 you have the wax labels witch means its nearly impossible to get them off... usually. the hair dryer might work ive never tried it on a game though only computers to resale at the shop lol.

you can try the hair dryer id say thats your best bet. once you get it off you may have residue left to remove that try very small amount of Vaseline grease (so not to harm the label) rub it on to soften the residue careful not to wipe the label graphics off. once finished wipe the whole game down with multi surface pledge (the yellow one) it will shine it up and not damage your label.
  • If the stickers aren't very old (pretty much anything PS2 and up), blowdryer works great.

Blowdryer won't work on some old stickers where the adhesive has completely dried and the paper part of the sticker is falling off. Have that issue on some NES era boxes.
  • The labels for the nes are layered and actually have a plastic film over them. So If the sticker isnt too close to the edge of the label you can use a little alcohol or water to moisten the unwanted sticker for easier removal. The plastic layer should keep your label dry. Goo gone any residue.
  • Man, the stickers I hate the most are those foil-looking stickers that, when peeled, leave a super sticky layer of foil down on the cart that says VOID. fuccckkk those.
  • Cover art meaning...not the labels. I mean the insert art for Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, DS, 3DS, Wii, PS3, and 360 games. You know...the "covers"?

As of right now I'm focusing on some 3DS cover art that have some pawn shop stickers on them. So blow dryer? It won't hurt the cover art right?
  • Nope, just get the sticker really hot.

I don't think you'll scorch the paper, but you might want to try it on a cheapie first.
  • Lighter fluid. Put a few drops onto the sticker to cover it. Wait a few minutes and peel it off. Then take a Q Tip and put some lighter fluid on the end of that and use it to clean up any residual glue left behind. Its safe for more cartridge based labels and all disc cases. Also safe on cardboard boxes. I do this dozens of times a day at work as we remove all old stickers from rental stores and price tags from other stores before we sell them.

It evaporates fast and doesnt do any damage to the labels. The only concerning common thing you should know is that N64 labels are very very sensitive. Do not rub anything onto them unless you want to remove the ink from them.

i thought you ment the game. ok hair dryer is defidantly your best bet then. i dont  buy game when game stop's stupid employee's puts the sticker directly on the cover art... i heard its cause the sticker would fall off over time. ha! yeah right they have the most annoying super glue stickers! i hate them for that!
  • Never use a blow dryer on disc with a sticker on it, but if you don't set the heat too high the blowdryer does work on the NES and SNES labels, since they are plastic-laminated. I've even had the blowdryer work on SNES boxes with labels.
