SNES Help!

I recently have been playing my SNES i've had since the early 90's and got some games to relive my childhood like most of us.  My games from back then such as Mario Kart, Mario World, Donkey etc. all work great and I have no problems at all.  I recently bought a copy of Kirby's Dream Course 3 and Super Mario RPG and I'm having the worst luck.  When I bought the games I had the guy test them infront of me on his system and the games ran perfect, then when I got home Kirby had trouble loading but would play after a couple times of the reset button but Mario RPG freezes at the start.

I noticed the older games and the newer games have a different connector pins, the older pin in one solid piece and the newer games seem to be in three different pieces. Any recommendations or advice on why the newer games won't work on my SNES?

Thanks In Advance!

  • The separated edge connectors in Kirby's Dream Land 3 and SMRPG are normal. You should try cleaning the part of the SNES cartridge slot where the small edge connectors go in. A cheap trick is to wet a cartridge connector in isopropyl alcohol (q-tip is enough), then use the cartridge to scrub/wash the cartridge slot. Wipe off the cartridge with another q-tip, then repeat until the drying q-tip isn't black anymore. You have to wait 10 minutes or so for your SNES and cartridges to dry completely.
