help me with printing ebay shipping labels

Here's a question. I've found eBay's shipping to be a little less than my local post office. My problem is printing the labels. Ebay forces me to print a full 8.5*11 paper and cut it out. I prefer to use 4*6 mailing labels. The label portion itself is perfect if I could just cut the garbage. Is there a way to do that?

I've used the print screen button and irfanview and had some luck, I then tried a print editing software but it wanted to leave the headers and footers which ruin the label. You'd think ebay would have a way to just print the label without the same useless instructions each time.

  • I'm pretty sure there's an option to print two labels per page or something like that.

I use a dymo label printer so it's a completely different format but try clicking on "printer and label receipt preferences" on the top right (under search button) of the page. You may be able to play with the preferences in there.
  • I did not know that button was there. I'll look into it when I get home tonight.
  • These are the types of labels I've been using for over 2 years now. They work really well for different sized packages. No editing or changing needed. You print on one end label and than you flip it over when you want to use the second. I'd look out for auctions though. I got a 100 sheet/200 label pack for under $6 shipped.

  • I looked at the preferences tab and it's designed for special printers. I

m using a Brother that isn't listed. Mines just an MFC with a tray for 4*6 pages. I hope by setting it to a brother 4*6 it will print ok. Otherwise I will try to set it to standard label only and see if my software can shrink it to the page.
  • No matter what I try ebay just does not print properly. It doesn't allow me to preview or change page options. It doesn't even change the printer when I change it in their flash program but instead always prints to the windows default in full page mode.

I'm giving up for now. I'll just pay at the post office.
  • CutePDF will let you print to a PDF file and then you can edit it from there. Also a good way to keep your shipping records digitally.
  • I tried that but Ebay's printing option doesn't read it, or any real printer. I change the printer selection and it still sends the label to my laser printer. I could try just printing the page from the top menu as a pdf with the buttons and all but that seems problematic.

Has anyone used PayPals software? The fact that ebay uses flash pretty much tells me all I need to know. Flash was never intended for office use. Until they switch to something a bit more flexible I think they will continue to have problems.
