retron 5 questions

the games for the snes are so expensive i noticed just how much cheaper famicom games are for the EXACT SAME GAME! i was debating about getting final fantasy 3 for the snes or gba, but i decided the snes because of the better sound chip.  but i realized the prices were really high compared to the famicom, i also heard the retron 5 patches game cartritges with fan translation.  does any one know how you go about doing that, i dont want to buy a famicom game unless i now for a fact i can translate it.

  • Shows you a quick run on how to use patches... seems to be pretty simple.
  • It's super easy and totally works great! Of course there has to be a fan translation available for said game. One of the best features from the more recent patches
  • thank you all for the help so far, my last questions is can you add cheats to the pre existing cheats that hyperkin allows you to download??? also where would i get the cheats, would i use gamegenie cheat code or what????  need to add some cheats for final fantasy 6 as that game can get extremly difficult
  • ^ Yes you can add cheats! It's a little tricky though, since you'd have to edit the XML files that Hyperkin gives you.

It'll take some getting used to, but you'd need a editor like this one: http://xmlgrid.net/

There you can edit anything from the XML file. I'm no coding wizard, so I'm not sure how to make extra new codes in either text or grid, but you can edit pre-existing codes, hacker's names, etc.

Hope that helps! If you're having trouble, I'm sure someone here can still help you out.
  • thanks bounce!!! it allowed me to see all the cheat codes it had, found it it does already have final fantasy 6 and pretty much any game immaginable has cheats on that.
