Ebay woes

Ok so here's the problem. In the beginning of September I sold a gameboy advance sp and 5 games. A week later the seller opens a claim stating the shoulder buttons on the unit didn't work which the unit worked great when I mailed it. Ebay ruled in favor of the seller and I was supposed to issue a refund when I recieved the item back. The ruling was made I believe September 23rd. Weeks go by and the buyer hadn't shipped the package back. So I email the buyer a couple times and I never recieved a response. Ebay closed the case about a week ago and removed the freeze on the funds. Today I get the package in the mail......should I still issue the refund?

  • I 'd say test it if the shoulder button does actually have a problem. If yes, refund him, and if not then get away with the money and relist the GB I would wonder if his claim was legitimate or if he just made a dick move
  • Yes, If you have received the package. I believe the word for the act of not returning the money is fraud and to my knowledge is still a crime in most if not all of the world. However, make sure you double check that the buyer actually returned the same item you sent them. If not, open another case with ebay. Anytime you sell a console it is a good idea to photograph or write down the serial number to compare returns to.
  • Does the system work? I guess you should refund if they mailed it back, and that was the agreement. Do what you would want done to you as the buyer.

    Edit: Forgot a sentence.
  • Test the system to see if it works 100% properly. If it checks out inform Ebay and see if what they recommend as for you to refund the money or send him back the system. No need to burn the guy even if he pulled a dick move. In the long run it's not worth it and karmas a mofo...lol Also add the buyer to your blocked members list to be on the safe side. No need to deal with the guy again if you had issues once.
  • I think you should send either one of them back. The nicest thing to do would be to refund him but the fair thing to do would be to send the console back to him. They give buyers more than enough time for returns. He bought it, was given a deadline and ample time to complete the return and failed to meet that deadline.
  • I had a similar issue with a turntable.
  • refund the money. check the system and sell it again
  • Make sure they sent you back the one you mailed out. It could be that he had a broken device and figured he could scam you on a new one. Get yours, file claim knowing he'd win cause those kinds of claims are impossible to loose, gets your device in the mail, mails back broken one.
